The retardedness of them stroking and loving on Poe after he pulls a mutiny is just one pane in the giant stained glass window that is this horrible movie.

Well, I understand a mutiny would normally be punished severely. But this a bunch of rebel friends, and there are only about 12 left. And Poe is their best pilot for that one ship they still have. So he can’t really be executed or whatever.

Name two that are better.

I'll just save time and say that Send in the Clones is the only one that is worse, and even that is a close call. Mary Poppins Leia might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Poe will be the new leader.

...but in a total surprise to everyone, he will announce he's transitioning to a woman and asks everyone to support him in this difficult time.

That way we end up with a strong latino woman who will smash the first order patriarchy!

I will never get over the fact that it was possible to Kamakazi the First Order’s fleet with light speed and it renders the whole plot of the movie pointless.

Also I am suprised that Rey didn’t think she could join Kylo Ren and just improve him. That seems like the women thing to do.

You are the first person I have met to think Episode V is an inferior film. Because surely you can't be talking about Episode IV, the only one of the nine films released in the saga to get anywhere close to the critical, commercial, and awards acclaim that many people associate The Empire Strikes Back with.

It's incredible to me how people who grew up hating the prequels have somehow gone back and retroactively proclaimed Lucas to be a piss poor filmmaker. Star Wars and American Graffiti are two of the most acclaimed films from the 1970s and they were both written and directed by George Lucas.

I'm sure Leia was supposed to be the heroin that would be "acceptable" to all of the stupid men who like Star Wars, but Carrie Fisher is dead. I don't think they're going to promote her jap daughter, Billie Lourd, since I think she was an ensign or something anyway.

Go with Billie Lourd. Just have the film open with Leia’s death and her assuming command. It would be touching for her to assume her mother’s position. Just have her on all the PR tours to get hyped.

And just make her a character first and not a woman first. Leia is that. Rey is that. Every other female character in this shite is not (with the exception of Maz who is thrown in this film for no reason). So please stop writing this with “girl power” messages when there’s never been a period in Star Wars where women didn’t have significant authority.

Yep. Poe is clearly set up to be the leader in the next movie.

But Poe is also the main antagonist of the movie when you really boil it down. He fricks over both the Resistance and the First Order to where both lose 99% of their troops.

Yeah, Poe I can understand not executing, because he has a skill they can utilize to their advantage and also blew up Starkiller Base. Finn at least tried to lay his life down for the Resistance and was following Poe’s orders. Rose though? She’s facing the firing squad. Absolutely worthless and damn near killed them all.

This place is getting as bad as the OT and Poli Board.

Just like those boards, you deny racism and sexism, yet phrases and epithets like this are becoming more and more common.

I’m sure the Food Board is next...

I like that no one answered the Resistance's distress call. People are tired of warlord Leia's bullshite.
..... I mean, I'm still sorting things like that out.

Why does every plan the women in charge make, go to shite?

Why does the entire galaxy decline to assist the Resistance in their uttermost need?

Why does Rose pass judgement on the Casino planet and the rich there, only for Del Toro to point out the naivety in her convictions?

In ways, it's like this movie not only beat you over the head with messages, it then countered those messages (in a quiet way that was lost by the overbearing tones of the earlier messages).

Like the makers tried to play it both ways, or tried to slip in something past the studio censors.

The final end results of the various things that happened, that we hated:

weirdo hermit hippie bum Luke was worthless, but he finally remembered his roots, came to action and saved the day.

Feminazi leadership of the Resistance led to catastrophic failure and defeat at every turn, and it's up to Poe to salvage anything from the shambles.

The Rose/Del Toro angle; it could be that war profiteers are all bad, or... this is a war, and you need their services and products if you want to fight. In other words, don't blindly shite on your potential benefactors.

I'm beginning to wonder if this WAS a political movie, but the message was for the Democrats, that they are getting slaughtered with their extremists, and need to move more mainstream if they want the support of the masses and accomplish anything.
It wasn't particularly effective or decisive, but that's kind of the impression I'm getting.

We find out Finn has been a First Order spy all along.
Or that Finn was actually an elite First Order intelligence operative who defected, rather than a janitor.

Hmmm. That might explain how he knows crucial areas of both Starkiller Base and Snoke's flagship to infiltrate and attack. That might explain the open hostility on a personal level between him and Capt Phasma, who's clearly some elite operative. It might explain why he insisted at the start that they couldn't defeat the First Order, they should run away instead (which in retrospect was the correct move).
You could ret-con it easily; even though he's deserted, he's smart enough to not admit he was SS or Gestapo, as they'd still likely kill him.

I would actually like it if in Ep IX, he said "I can't believe you all took that line literally. I was an assassin and high level intel operative, that's how I know all this shite. I used to clean up all the First Order's messes, so I was Snoke's janitor".

I don’t like the character but Finn as a janitor makes no sense. He is too intelligent. He is either an engineer, intel or comm officer. If not the First Order is so good at recruiting that even their service staff is smart.

I've said several times that there was an awesome movie buried in here if they would have had the balls to go all out with it instead of trying to split the difference/force the story.

I confess I liked TLJ (just saw it this morning, expectations fully in check) in spite of its WTF moments, but I laughed in the theater over this...whatever the vibe was supposed to convey, they unintentionally made me think "damn, the Resistance must be a bunch of assholes" instead
