We find out Finn has been a First Order spy all along.

Did you see the movie? Both Leia and Hutto saw Poe as the future leader and at the end when they were trying to escape Leia said "don't look at me, follow him"

Soooooo, they knew that Carrie Fisher was going to die and set Poe up to be the supreme leader? Wow, that some serious female intuition.

The only way they let Poe take over is if he is constantly overshadowed by Rey and the other chicks. The only way he succeeds is if he sees the light of their wisdom.

The retardedness of them stroking and loving on Poe after he pulls a mutiny is just one pane in the giant stained glass window that is this horrible movie.

All they really showed is that it doesn't matter what decision Poe makes. Really good writing there.

Poe disobeys orders and blows up the thing, they live because of it.

Poe doesn't disobey orders and doesn't blow up the thing, they all live.

So.......what exactly was he supposed to learn that is to make him a better leader?

Which part was his test? The learning to be a team player/cog in the machine or the part where he took matters into his own hands because all he saw was everybody just chilling while the fleet got picked off one ship at a time?

Ep VII should've been set up as Luke training the Jedi at the temple and The Republic ruling the galaxy. Snoke starts a small rebellion and then turns Kylo and the Knights of Ren. The movie ends with Kylo burning down the temple and Luke going into hiding.

Ep VIII is The Force Awakens. Rey trying to find Luke 10 years after VII, Ren and Snoke have built Starkiller base and destroyed the Republic capital, etc... The Republic takes a massive blow, but it's till powerful. The First Order rebellion is gaining support however. Seeing as nothing happened in TLJ outside of Rey finding Luke and Luke fighting Kylo, you could just compress the entire plot line of that movie into 20 minutes and add it to the end of TFA or the beginning of IX.

Episode IX is then set up as a showdown between Rey and Kylo. Or even better those two team up to take out both the Republic (remains of the Jedi) and the First Order (remains of the Empire) and start all over again.

I want to believe this is how VII, VIII, and IX started in real life....only to have Disney people muck it up and give us what we have.

What you wrote was simply too good, and simple to do for that matter, to be executed

ETA If done correctly your VII probably could have taken a seat as the best Star Wars movie in my opinion.

Breesus, I now hate you. I really want to see this version instead of the one we got.

That's the most frustrating part. In the world of fiction, women really can do anything, like effortlessly beat the shite out of 300 lb. men.

Or come up with a brilliant military strategy. The writers and SJW producers had literally years to formulate a brilliant sounding plan, and what we got was a series of really stupid decisions that get everyone killed YET STILL have the audacity to be portrayed as wise and "the right thing to do."

As a NON-woman hater, I am well aware that women are good at things. A great many things. However, the women who bullied the production of this piece of shite AREN'T EVEN GOOD AT PRETENDING TO BE GOOD AT THINGS.

On the Movie Board, you have to go balls to the wall to successfully troll.

"Top two in the franchise" is too lukewarm. "Best in the franchise" is a much better start. If you pair it with a "reasonable critique" on why Empire sucks, you may catch lightning in a bottle and legit piss people off.
