I know its not the biggest blockbuster of all time (yet), but good Lord it is making an insane amount of money so far. $948,993,000 as of last night to be exact and will likely crack the 1 billion mark by the end of this coming week. even as great of an opening weekend The Great Gatsby has had ($51,000,000 so far), it still came in second behind Iron Man 3 on its second week.

I think 2 billion worldwide by the end of its 15-20 week run is almost a guarantee, but could it crack the 3 billion mark when its all said and done?

I don't see it even hitting 2. It will probably end up fizzling and fading around 1.4 or so and end up around the same as Avengers.

I could see it dropping off some for sure, but I don't see it dropping off that much. its halfway to the 2 billion mark after two weekends. then again, you're right about The Avengers.

I still think it's bad. The fact that it hasn't died off makes me sad, because it guarantees that movies like IM3 will continue to be made.

This is fricking ridiculous. You've got to be an IM homer or flat out dumbass to like or spread positive word about this film.

Yay! The IM series has been extremely fun, love to see comic book movies doing awesome, especially ones that add comedy into the mix, feels much more comic book like!

Just got out of it. I thought it was pretty good but it unfortunately had to follow up The Avengers. The bar has been set and this one doesn't sniff it.

Yes. It's a shame that they make movies that casual movie goers enjoy and makes a bundle of money due to it. I admit that I never read Iron Man comics as a kid so I don't give a shite about continuity or sticking to the comics. But you know what, I can go to a movie and just enjoy it for what it is.

I think its gets close to 1.5 billion but doesn't beat Avengers box office numbers.

Movie sucked. Not surprised it's cashing in though, people love their comic book movies.

personally I have never seen a single Iron Man film lol. I'm just talking about the money its making.

I've never been a big comic book fan or a big fan of the superhero movies and I also have never understand the obsession some have with them, but its obvious that's what most of the world wants to see and it shows at the box office.

I stand corrected with my original post of "2 billion is almost a guarantee". after looking at other blockbuster films it appears that the 1.5 billion is more realistic of a guarantee.

I just got back from seeing it and I enjoyed it. I haven't seen The Avengers though. Apparently that's what all the fuss of "New York" was about. I need to check out that movie.
