Strange I can’t find it... seems strange for such a mainstream movie to be so hard to find... Missing with Jack Lemmon... same thing... odd - these movies about child abduction just not available...

Ransom is on Hulu, it says.

calling this a "child abduction" movie is pretty misleading.

I rember like ten years ago, before amazon prime or hulu was really a thing and after blockbuster was still a viable option wanting to watch the shite out of this movie for like 6 months and having no luck. Total blue balls.

According to google its streaming on hulu, sling, TNT, TBS, and YoutubeTV.

According to my Roku search it looks like Ransom is currently licensed out to Turner Media and can be streamed through TNT, TBS, and TruTV apps. If you have Hulu Live you can watch there too since that gives you access to TNT/TBS. JustWatch also say sit can be streamed through DirecTV and Sling.
As far as I can tell Missing isn't available anywhere but it's nearly 40 years old and wasn't a big hit so I guess Universal has just stopped caring about it.
I checked VUDU and neither is available for purchase but there are also tons of random movies that you can't buy (Dutch for example) so I assume that's some sort of licensing issue.

TurnerMedia is a subsidiary of Warner, so it should make it to HBO Max one day.

Maybe.
Ransom is owned by Touchstone which in turn is owned by Disney. Touchstone was usually the brand they released their more adult movies under like Pretty Woman and Con Air. Depending on what Disney wants to do it's just as likely it will end up on Hulu or other Disney owned services.
It all depends how it's being licensed. Usually what happens is movie studios package their movies together and license them out to cable networks in a big block. This is why you tend to see the same movies migrate from HBO to TNT to FX to Netflix to Hulu etc etc together.
I assume once D+ fully merges with Hulu it will end up living there for the most part though they may still license it out to other services and cable nets to squeeze more money out of it.
It's also possible that it along with several other movies in whatever package they combined it with have already been licensed out for years down the line to networks like TNT so it may well live on basic cable for the next 10-15 years. They almost never publicize these deals so it's anyone's guess as to how long it will be tied up in existing deals.

It amazes me that people forget this is a thing.
Wonder how much longer before it simply isn’t.

How is this odd? Movies being unavailable to stream anywhere is just too insanely common for this to be odd.

Op was just fishing for a conspiracy discussion, hollywood blacklisting movies critical of child abduction.

It took like two seconds to find that movie streaming, get your weird conspiracy bullshite out of here.

Go ahead and explain where you are trying to go with this. Im going to assume some kind of conspiracy or something since as other posters have said, a simple google search would have given you an answer

Now that the Deep State has stopped The Storm, they are coming after fictional depictions of child abductions.
OPEN YOUR EYES, SHEEPLE!
Next thing, expect Tom Hanks to win another Oscar.
