This was nominated for Best Picture? Lol.
Decent, entertaining film, great performance by Daniel Kaluuya ( dude has chops) , funny script ( the TSA sidekick stuff was funny), totally retreaded script we have seen 1000 times since the 1950s updated with race angle . All meh to good . But Best Picture ? Just no ....
Best original screenplay I can forgive but Best Picture nomination? Seriously ? Somebody persuade me this is truly nomination - worthy . And before you tell me the Best Picture winner was even worse ( I didn’t see it ) what th hell is going on in Hollywood? Is this it ? I don’t want to hate on Peele or even criticize the guy who has made me laugh for years but this is Oscar- worthy now ?

good movie, but yes, it's mind boggling that it was nominated.

The oscars are liberal shite now anyways. They used to mean something when Hollywood wasnt so into virtue signaling, but they suck now.

We all know why it was nominated. It's an entertaining movie, but best picture is simply ridiculous.

Y'all do realize this movie shits on white ultra progressives right

I'm not an Oscars nerd(no offense meant to anyone that is) but I really enjoyed the movie. Don't really care whether it was nomination worthy or not.

Yeah it was definitely enjoyable. I’m glad I watched it- funny as heck at times. But Best Picture? C’mon now , that’s just silly.

It's way too early in this thread to ruin the MTV board tradition of dumb posters ironically railing on Get Out's success being due to race narrative.

They had to nominate one not white movie.
I wish their sketch show was still going because I could see them ripping the Academy for it.

Ahh yes. I remember the good ole days when Hollywood was nothing but conservatives?

We all know why it was nominated for best picture. Now imagine if the race plot was reversed. Still think it gets nominated for best pic?

It was one of the best movies of the year.

It would be akin to the 1990 Oscars Best Picture nominees being:
Field of Dreams
Driving Miss Daisy
My Left Foot
Born on the 4th of July
and...
Pet Sematary
Now Pet is entertaining but it is what it is.

Can we all just agree that it was a good movie?
Why do you guys care which movie gets nominated for whatever award?
It has no bearing on your life.

The episode of Atlanta that just aired was way better than Get Out. Much creepier.

What movie would you put in it’s place for a nomination? I realize you don’t have to put in anything.
But when people say it doesn’t belong, I’d like to hear what they think should be nominated. Maybe it was just a bad year for movies.

Of all the lame responses , the lamest is always the “ why do you care “ response. It’s the stuff of grade school. Like sticking your tongue out.
And damn, some of you are defensive as hell about discussing a movie . Lost in all the defensiveness and weird anger is that not a single person has really defended it with anything substantive as to why it should have been nominated . I get the sociological “ importance “ of the movie and how it blows up Progressive Racial paternalism but it falls WAY short of established Oscar artistic , technical , originality standards. It’s just derivative cartoonish horror fare with a clever race spin. Tell me why I’m wrong .
