At this point, I’m convinced that these ultra high-budget CGI fest films are all money laundering schemes by corporate film studios. The executives know damn well that all of these films are rushed, unoriginal, uncreative pieces of shite that no one will remember years from now.

This Snow White film is a lot of things, but it would be hard to describe it as "rushed."

For a film with such a lofty budget, it sure does look to have a ton of VERY bad CGI effects.

As someone who was raised by Disney, I wouldn't take $100 to go see this movie. They've completely flubbed it from the jump.

Define "can't afford." Because they have a 180 billion dollar market cap. They actually can afford it.

How could anyone look at her face and say, "thats the face of a generational beauty. One who is the fairest of them all"?

And yet Disney did. And even if they were trying to DEI Snow White, you would go with something like this instead

$3.5 million for the previews is abysmal. Dumbo made $2.6 million which with inflation would be $3,2 million.

Dumbo grossed $114.7 million in the US and only had a $170 million budget.

It doesn't have much competition so I think it'll do better than Dumbo, domestically. The international numbers look very bad though.

I think there will be a large group who are just taking their daughters and then not go back. My daughter has asked about it, and I said I heard it is not great and am not sure if we will take her. If she insists, it will likely be the wife and her (I really do not want to go or spend money on this one).

That is a really dumb way of looking at it. DIS market cap has decreased 50.8% from their high back in 2021. That is a $185 billion decrease.

Please explain how they can afford to continue their current path?

They’re being funded by 30 members of the WEF which is probably why 9-10 massive flops in the last couple years isn’t stopping the way they’re making these movies.

2ND UPDATE, Friday midday: Currently, Disney‘s Snow White is seeing $15.5 million today, which includes last night’s $3.5M, and will get the Rachel Zegler-Gal Gadot movie to the mid-$40Ms for a three-day total at the domestic box office. That’s right around where Dumbo was, jeez: That Tim Burton clunker did $15.2M on its opening day for a near $46M 3-day off a much cheaper production cost than Snow White ($170M versus $270M). Again, it all comes down to Saturday and Sunday matinees with Snow White particularly given its target of women.

Warner Bros may be wishing it were Disney right now: WB’s $50M Robert De Niro double gangster movie The Alto Knights per industry sources will be lucky to slot fifth with at least $1M today (including previews) and $3M for the weekend off a $50M production cost. Another unfortunate misfire for the studio of Harry, Albert, Sam and Jack…but Minecraft is coming.

Damn, the Deniro movie is a huge flop

This movie will lose money. Disney does not care. Their main objective is the parks. If people stop going to the parks, they will change their business approach. People will always go to the parks.

Opening weekend will be their core fan base. A lot of the reviews have been the same in that Zegler has a great voice for the songs. The plot sucks and things added just to increase time but not substance. Gadot performance is cringe worthy as well as the CGI dwarves. The prince is not even a prince. He is just a guy.

Word of mouth won't help this movie plus the reviews coming out only 24 hours before the public can see it was also a factor bc Disney knew this movie sucked.

Third is the film Zaslav personally greenlit for his buddies. While he's employing a slash and burn approach to the rest of the TV and film divisions, he's giving his friends $50 million dollars to play with and lose. It's existence feels like a joke.

*This, not third
