Just wanted to report back and say this movie is even better on 2nd watch. I’m convinced the poor reviews are from those who haven’t been bothered to watch it yet and give it a shot. Best Disney movie this year. The messaging really resonated with my kids.

My neighbor took her kids to see it last night. She said that it's bad, but not necessarily as woke as people might think. Most of the hate comes from the crazy comments that Rachel Zegler made prior to the film's release. She said that if Zegler had not said those things, people wouldn't feel that the movie's message was all that political. She did mention that the kingdom in the story is somewhat of a communist paradise where everyone works together and everyone gets their fair share of the goods. She said that the CGI is truly horrendous in some scenes, and that the dwarfs are nightmare fuel. As expected, they get around the fact that the Queen is obviously more physically fair than Snow White by saying that the latter's true beauty comes from within. I've seen that plot device used in other versions of the story, but apparently it's highlighted much more here.

They only have an interest in doing that with conservative actors. Like Gina Carano, who Rachel Zegler was involved in "canceling."
It is very obvious that Disney, as a company, agrees with Zegler's stances and views.

This reviewer seems to disagree with this assessment, and he's happy about it: LINK
Your neighbor is saying they didn't change all these things for political reasons? Seems odd for reviewers to defend changes that other people say didn't happen.
The most obvious change, of course, is that Snow White isn't white. They definitely did change that for political reasons.

Doesn't work. Why would the Queen be jealous of "inner beauty?" Makes no sense. People with low character don't care that other people don't have low character. They just try to normalize their low character.
