Case in point where Gleason took a good line and made it awesome!

“HOLD MY HAT!”
“My hat flew off, daddy”
“I HOPE YOUR GD HEAD WAS IN IT!”

When the 18 wheeler tears the door off and Buford tells his son to put in the evidence in the car, I lose it every time.

A lot of the scenes from the movie were filmed around Atlanta. I have been to a few of the filming locations.

1. The spot where Justice kicks the guy in the arse.

2. The pond where Fred goes for a swim.

3. The race track where Big and Little Enos issue the challenge. It doesn't exist anymore but some of the buildings in the background are recognizable.

Seems like there was one more but it's not coming to me.

Jackie Gleason was wonderful. I can still hear my grandfather laughing at this movie

While Jackie Gleason gets a ton of very deserved credit for his role that movie was loaded with talent. Everyone was perfect for their role and pulled the part off.

One of my favorite behind the scenes stories comes from that movie. Gleason and Reynolds were sitting back after filming one day in some lawn chairs while they tossed down some adult beverages. Gleason leans too far back in his chair and proceeds to fall over into a ditch. A couple of seconds later he walks back up holding his glass and proudly proclaims "didn't spill a drop of it."

The first movie I saw in a theater. Hot Springs AR, summer of ‘77.

My grandma took us thinking it was about Smokey the bear and animated. Yeah we didn’t last the whole movie and it was a decade or so before I finally saw and understood it.

A true American classic.

And people really did made runs for Coors back in the day.

That was the old Lakewood Fairgrounds track wasn't it? What was the track is now part of the parking lot for the amphitheater, and one section of the old concrete grandstands are still there.

I know that some of the road shots were done up and down 19/41 Tara Blvd in Clayton County.

“Wow, he had a lot of friends, didn't he daddy?”

“If they'd a cremated the sum-bitch I could be kickin' that Mr. Bandit's arse around the moon by now.”

Mike Henry, who played Junior, deserves a ton of credit for doing an incredible job setting up some of the funniest lines of that movie.

"Does this mean I'm not your little tick turd anymore?"

"Son, you'll always be my tick turd."
