Started Six Feet Under, 8 episodes into Season 1. Does it pick up or is it just this type of drama series the entire way through? Struggling to keep with it. I have seen numerous times on this board the the ending is on of the best.

If anything, the show will just get darker. It's great (GOAT finale episode) but I think it made me slip into depression. All those characters are just hopeless.

It picks up when Dwight Schrute shows up in Season 3 and starts banging Ruth.

I had the same experience. I almost had to force myself to watch it.
It's a great dark series but it's about as real as it gets in portraying a dysfunctional family and their associates.
None of the characters have much in the way of redeeming value other than maybe Claire.
You have to brace yourself for the dismal.
In the end, I was glad I wasn't as screwed up as any of those people.

Agree. Equally satisfying and heartbreaking at the same time.

I have heard for years it's the best finale of all time so I wanted to give it a go. I got about 2.5 seasons in and just kinda quit, that was a few months ago and haven't picked it back up. I'm still really intrigued about the end but I just found myself being so bored watching. There's no way I can finish 3-4 more full seasons.

For those that have watched, would the...idk maybe "impact"?.. be the same if I just jumped straight to the final season and just watched that?

I’m going to try and stick with it. I guess it may be one where I watch 1-2 episodes at a time instead of 4-5.

I can't recall exactly when all of the characters are introduced, but you might not know who all of them are. I can't listen to that song without reliving that final scene in my mind. It was perfect on so many levels.

It’s very dark, but excellent.

It's very dark. I did like the show a lot but I'm not sure I could ever actually watch it again like I do with some of my other favs like the Wire, Sopranos, BB.

to actually answer your question.

if youre not digging it now, then no, youre probably not going to start liking it.

it has the GOAT ending for a series, but if you don't give two shits about the characters it wont have an impact on you.

Edit: saw your last post and seems you came around. glad to be proven wrong since it ranks up there in my favorite shows.

I probably did this 2 times before, then finally something clicked and I watched the entire show in a few weeks. I got hooked. Ending won't have the same impact if you jump right to it. And yes the ending is one of the all time greats.

It's only 5 seasons, and they aren't even that long.

I rewatched it in the past year, 15 years from the first time I saw it. I liked it even better the 2nd time. I had a lot more sympathy for the characters and their flaws - even Brenda.

I think I still like The Wonder Years finale better, but this one is absolutely crushing in every possible way.

No, I don't think so. You have to be on the full journey with the characters.
