Whether you like his recent work or not, Steve Carrel is a legit leading actor in both dramas and comedies. He's objectively had a better career than Helms and probably Krasinski too.

Since leaving the office he's been nominated for a best actor Oscar and has had leading roles in movies like the big short, vice, foxcatcher, etc. What the frick has Ed Helms done after the hangover movies?

Jerry's career is much bigger than Cranston's. He was only in a few episodes anyway. That hardly counts.

I was coming to post this.
DeCaprio on Growing Pains has got to be the best answer to this question

What's wrong with being a stand up? Jerry's one of the biggest names all time and he makes lots of money from it. Its how he got the show in the first place.

Linda Cardellini is pretty famous and has had a successful career. But I would say several of her ensemble from Freaks and Geeks has surpassed her, or at least did for awhile, her fame is back on the rise now

Definitely passed: Seth Rogan, James Franco

Probably passed or equalled: Lizzy Caplan, Busy Phillips

A few years ago I would say Jason Segal but I think she’s passed him back up with Dead to Me and Bloodline

I may even be missing a few, ton of future stars on that show

if you told me in 2009 that Andy from Parks would be arguably the start of the 2015-2019 blockbusters I’d have called you a liar.

Although this one is ambiguous on who you can consider the lead.

I disagree. Any Poehler is clearly the lead. I’d say she’s more of the lead in P&R than Carrell on The Office

Community has a couple of examples. Joel McHale was the lead but Donald Glover is a superstar now and Alison Brie has done well.

Does John Goodman count over Roseanne

He’d already done twenty films and was a name and face well known to the public. He was a huge “get” for the show.

Bryan Cranson on Malcolm In The Middle is a better choice.

That’s an interesting one because he was probably tied for 2nd or outright the 2nd most famous person on the show outside Frankie Muniz and Frankie was a kid, how many child stars stay famous?
