I highly enjoyed this movie but it got Get Out/Black Panther treatment of being a rally good move overblown into cinema for “reasons.”
Again loved it but it doesn’t crack my top 20 for the 2020s.

Agreed.
It was a really good popcorn movie. Nothing more.

It was okay. I feel like it could have been 80 minutes and not 140.

There are 2 credit scenes. Make sure to watch both. Pretty cool.

I did end up watching it last night. I’ve been wanting to watch this since the first trailer was released. It didn’t disappoint. I thought it was excellent.
This was most definitely not overhyped (like Black Panther was) because it’s a black director making a black vampire movie. It is legit awesome IMO.
I only had a couple of gripes. One is the run time. It definitely didn’t need to be over two hours. However, it didn’t feel like it dragged really, so I didn’t mind. The second was the weird musical number at the juke joint where they tried way too hard to incorporate black culture throughout history. I get what they were trying to do, it just fell way flat and felt weird and out of place to me.
I fully expected to not like MBJ in a dual role but I thought he was pretty good.
The end scene with the Klan felt gratuitous and unnecessary. But it was fine.
But everything else worked IMO. I’ll definitely watch this one again.

Really enjoyed it and the music was great. That post credit scene was one of the best scenes in the movie.

I honestly can't figure out if I loved or hated that scene. Probably would've been better if it was just "past" spirits and left out the future.
Agree the end scene with the Klan was dumb.

The klan scene was meant to show that they were spending their last night alive no matter what. It was going to be the vampires or the klan that killed them.

I made it an hour and 20 minutes and the vampire shite hit the fan.
