I love both movies
you really can't go wrong
Another movie that's similar in style to LIT is Broken Flowers which I also really enjoyed

Would I enjoy Lost in Translation or are they completely different?
the themes explored in each movie are different and the styles are different.
Lonliness is a big theme in LiT. Despite being in a city of millions and millions of people, both characters are lonely and out of place
ETA: and the final scene is a source of much speculation. WHAT DID HE SAY TO HER?!!!

I ended up watching LIT, really liked it. The mood of the film was great.

After pretty much everyone telling you to watch Sideways?!
Sideways is one of my favorite movies.

Sideways is great. Lost in Translation isn't.

I identified with what OML posted.

Sideways made me laugh several times and Lost In Translation did not. I like Bill Murray but that's not my favorite of his.

Glad you liked it.
Sideways is still definitely worth a watch sometime.

Even though I liked Lost better I know why a lot of people say Sideways, and it's an ironclad reason to see it: everybody knows a version of all the people in that movie, or had a REAL similar experience themselves.

No need to be a douche about it. You really have to be in the right mindset to enjoy LiT and something similar to that pretty much needs to happen to you in order for you to enjoy it.

Sideways or Lost in Translation?
Both are very good movies. However, the protagonists in both are a little older and have been through more than most of the posters here. They explore slightly different themes, although there are similarities. I enjoyed them both very much. And both Scarlett and Virginia (even though older) are very sexy and unintentional heartbreakers given the circumstances of the movie.

Sideways. But it's a dramedy, not all out comedy. Well done.
Lost in Translation was written by a chick so nothing happens.

Sideways was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It was more annoying than enjoyable. Lost in Translation is probably a top 10 favorite of mine but I like the actors more in that one too.
