Saw a thread on here when the trailer came out. It didn't do well at the box office, but holy frick it was a good movie.

Highlights the brutality of the situation, the measures that must be taken, and hopelessness of it all. Very intense. Well acted. Enjoyed it immensely.

Story probably won't blow you away I guess. I don't know. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hasn't it only been in select cities?

I know it won't be in Denver until Friday.

Can't wait

O shite. Maybe. Saw at a big cineplex in Houston. Was in their premier theater and it may have been half full.

+1

Saw a trailer for it before Black Mass this past weekend. Looks very promising

Probably because it hasn't been wide-released yet. At least, it's not playing in my area.

Will be seeing it when it comes out Thursday or Friday night.

Can't deny every time I see a trailer it makes me more excited to see it. In comparison to say End of Watch which I found showed a great deal of the brutality of the situation, the measures that must be taken, and hopelessness of it all. Especially in the scene where the two officers found the room with the decapitated heads and dismembered bodies. Once they were met by the task force I knew from then it would be an intense ride.

I got to see it earlier this week in Houston. The story is definitely a bit thin at moments, but it was so well acted that the relative weaknesses are easy to look over. The acting, combined with some brilliant dialogue set in a really enthralling world, made this an easy movie to get drawn into. I can't recommend it enough

Yeah pretty much how I felt. Plus, in the RPX theater, where everything is just a crisper, a bit better sounding, it was an experience.

Also, the cinematography is awe inspiring at moments. The use of negative space and light and dark is stunning.

It had the highest gross per theater of any movie so far this year for its first week (in VERY limited release).

>>$60K/theater IIRC

Damn. That's crazy. As my second post indicates, had no idea it was limited release. All I know is that at 8:20 on Saturday in the premier theater for this cineplex, the audience had a number of empty seats.

I read the book The Cartel about a month ago, and really enjoyed it. Sicario looks to be similar, so I'm in!

just got back from seeing it

holy frick

my favorite movie of the year so far. So brutal and tense. No cheesiness at all. Just pure grit and awesomeness

I found myself on the edge of my seat multiple times

The score was outstanding and really added a ton of intensity to the situations

Agreed. And the sound editing was impeccable. I still go back to several shots in which the use of negative space made my jaw drop. Entering the tunnel and as they dropped below the horizon may have been two of the best shots in cinema that I've seen in years.

What is Brolin's character? Is he a special forces type or what?
