If you want to commit long term:

Mad Men
Breaking Bad

Just to kill time:

This was going to be my suggestion.

Also try Sons of Anarchy.

Both great choices. I'll also throw Dexter and HIMYM out there

I've seen most of everything you put down.

My top two recommendations would be breaking bad and sons

Two of my favorite shows

Prison break is really really good

Feel like I post this list a lot but it's my list of shows that I've seen and liked. I don't have any sitcoms in it, just 1 hour shows.

The West Wing
X-files
Twin Peaks
Deadwood
Weeds
Prison Break
MadMen
Dexter
Lost
Fringe
Oz
Dead Like Me
Sopranos
Carnivale
Freaks and Geeks
Game of Thrones
Doctor Who
Six Feet Under
The Sopranos
The Wire
Justified
Pushing Daisies (this is one I have a hard time recommending but I liked it a lot)

Breaking Bad and Mad Men are intelligent cerebral shows. If you're bored, you probably just want to shut your brain off and be entertained. I would recommend shows like Dexter, Chuck, and Entourage instead.

The Brits have some great contributions: Doctor Who, Top Gear, and QI to name a few
