Started watching last night and other than a very brief shot of Emmy Rossum bubs I was unimpressed.
Is the whole show just trashy people being trashy?
Not wanting to commit to 11 seasons of that.

Yes, it is trashy the entire series; however, the acting is top notch. William Macy is fantastic as the hopeless, disgusting Frank, and right when you find yourself rooting for him, he ruins it.
Shameless isn't for everybody. If you're turned off early, I wouldn't bother.

I started it up about 7 years or so ago and was obsessed with it. It’s a roller coaster, one minute you’re thinking “they’d be fun to party with” then next episode “everyone in this family is a piece of shite”. I got burned out on it and quit around season 6. Once Fiona starts doing coke around the baby and goes back and forth on marrying that dude it gets ridiculous

There are a few redeeming characters, but mostly it's trashy people doing trashy things, often hilariously.

Just skip ahead to the story arc where Lipp is sleeping with his hot college professor, working as a houseboy at a sorority house and banging coeds, and also working at a motorcycle shop where he screws an Asian coworker chick. Lots of gratuitous nudity. You’re welcome.

I made it thru about 4-5 seasons. It was really good, then I just kinda let it slip away. The show makes ya feel dirty.

It fizzled out for me after Joan Cusack. It just got to be the same thing over and over again

Yeah the only major difference really in the later seasons is Debbie and the introduction of Trevor. But yeah as far as “woke” goes there isn’t much difference especially in regards to Ian

Gay characters are one thing, but the show became preachy at the end. Awkward conversations that didn't seem natural or real and included only to educate the viewer is what made it "woke" at the end.

Woke gets thrown around here a ton on this board, but the last couple of seasons of Shameless are over the top woke. Even the die hard fans of the show admit that
