Why can’t anyone talk like a normal human on this show.

“Oh she’ll die if I go back. Cool I’ll just take the word of this evil bitch. No further explanation needed, let’s do this brain surgery “

Amazing how many people need things spoon fed to them. I like the intrigue and bizarreness. They’ve created an incredible world here

ETA: do we even have confirmation that they’re in the USA any reference to the country or another state.

I agree they have but I also thought in this moment the show suffered from a common TV/Movie trope of characters not asking obvious questions.

If someone said my wife was trapped in a company and about to die my IMMEDIATE response would be to ask how she knows that, where she is, how do I get her out, also maybe it’s time to call the police?

This would also be any rational persons response. The fact that he just stopped asking questions and called Milchek doesn’t really make logical sense

Oh please, it’s been a month of mark getting unsevared

The show is dragging its feet. It’s clear the writers room drama has made a mess of this season.

The whole cobal episode could have been put into a different episode or two. We didn’t need to hit the breaks on the main plot to find out a company took credit for her work while working there. Instead we get useless goat scene that’s almost certainly never to be addressed again

Her response would have been “Apple wanted ten episodes”

I’m pretty sure they know that calling the police won’t work as surely Lumon has their hand in there heavy.

They are keeping it obscure, but they did use US dollars in an episode to pay for a meal.

I mean Mark already knows Gemma is there. He also already knows Cobel was his boss on the severed floor. I think we can safely infer that calling the police would not help matters, given that he has no proof and given how powerful Lumon is. So he already knows the answers to like half of those questions.

That said, I agree that asking for more information would be the obvious reaction. But I think Cobel’s response is equally obvious. She would continue to be cryptic, would not share any additional information until she is ready to do so, would continue pressing Mark to call Milchick, and would be generally insufferable.

Maybe Mark knows this from his interactions with her as “Ms. Selvig.” But even if he doesn’t, do we really need to see that sequence play out on screen? The same people who are accusing them of intentionally stretching things out surely don’t want to see another 5 minutes of pointless back-and-forth.

Nobody really wants “natural” dialogue in a TV drama, IMO. It wouldn’t be that enjoyable to watch. Part of the trick with good writing & acting is to capture the essence of those interactions in a way that allows the viewer to understand the characters’ motivations and reactions in a way that feels natural without actually being natural.

They were told there was a 5 month gap from the uprising to when they came back. I don't see how that's possible. It's ALWAYS snow all over the place. Nowhere outside of the artic or Antarctic circles is there so much snow year round.

- It can't be the continental US. Looks more like Nova Scotia, Greenland or possibly somewhere in N. Europe.

- Unless possibly the entire Lumon world is some sort of AI / Matrix type of construct.

Milchick was lying to them. We saw from the outies’ points of view that it was only a few days.

That’s because it wasn’t actually 5 months. Lumon just lied to the innies about that. It was a couple of days. This was confirmed in the next episode when they showed the same time period from the outties’ POV.

Yeah, that didn't quite track, so I did consider that. Even so, every scene outside for 2 seasons has been with snow on the ground. Which means if this IS the US, then it's taken place over a few weeks, at most. No place along the coast outside of Alaska or maybe New England would have that much snow. And also, going home at 5pm? It would be completely dark outside.

She is not Ms selvig anymore but mark doesn’t know that. All she is to him is a career liar that was down with apparently killing his wife until she got fired

If she continued to be vague, he would have no reason to trust her.

Cut a helicopter shot or one of many vibe sequences if time is an issue

What do you mean she’s “not Ms. Selvig anymore”? That was an act, and Mark does know that.

He doesn’t trust her. He said as much about 50 times. He’s only there because Devon dragged him there, and because he’s out of other options now that Reghabi bailed.

The only reason she bailed was because of Devon...

Going to be interesting to see the story arch of Cobel/Solveig and whether shes gonna screw Mark in the end.

Trust her enough to go right along with her plan without any convincing or questioning.

The reghabi bailing was another good example of the characters acting in ways to move the plot and not rational what so ever. That whole scene was frustrating.

What was the point of the reghabi storyline this season if she is going to bail? Feels like a waste of time, should have just had cobal doing that and put the cobal episode earlier in the season

I meant more a fake quasi-US country. But I agree it is clearly the US after some of those points brought up.

Wasn’t suggesting it was Switzerland or something lol
