How did Irv know she was an Eagan? He just kinda blurted it out

You could see him putting the pieces together over several episodes.

He literally said in this episode right before the reveal “who would have the authority to send their outie to the severed floor”

Only an Eagan.

From his dream.

E - 5
A - 1
G - 7
E - 5
N - 14?, though I don't see 14.

And is Helly waking up under water right after she was at the Lumon party where she outs herself as the innie? She has to be crazy confused.

So it’s clear that Dieter eagen was somehow breeding with native animals or something?

That’s why the seal looked like some kind of creature?

I guess I'll be that guy. I didn't care for the episode at all. It stuck out like a sore thumb with the progression of the series this season. It just didn't fit with where it was going last week. Very little to progress the plot except verifying what we all already knew. I did chuckle, however, at the "world's largest waterfall."

It definitely was not what I was anticipating. I thought we were going to get a heavy flashback episode.

I also thought Mark was acting really weird in this episode. I get that he was supposed to be "goo goo eyes" for Helly, but it just seemed off. I asked my wife why he was acting like a child.

Helena definitely gave herself away to Irv when she mocked the Kier story.

Some great lines in this episode though.

Reintegrated Mark is going to find outie Irv and do some work.

1. Mark is newly reintegrated, yet now decides to sleep with his coworker?? I’d have thought he’d be much more focused on finding his wife now, with his two selves combined. He’d be overjoyed with having been with her at work and now realizing she’s truly alive. Sleeping with Helly would have made much more sense before his reintegration.

We don’t know what happened between the end of E3 and the start of E4. I suspect the next episode will fill the gap, but a couple of possible theories:
1. Maybe reintegration doesn’t happen immediately, so it takes time for his outside memories to creep in.
2. When he reintegrates, maybe Mark recognizes Helena Eagan. In this case he might be trying to play her somehow. I can totally picture a conversation between Mark and his sister where she somehow convinces him that he needs to sleep with Helena.
3. I don’t think reintegration necessarily means the outtie takes over completely. He would presumably take on both personalities simultaneously. Or maybe one is more dominant depending on whether the switch is on or off. Either way, he may be conflicted over his feelings for Helly.

2. Helena being a smartass/ disrespectful about the Deiter Eagan story. How does that work with her mole mission? If their goal is to keep Mark S focused on completing Cold Harbor, I’d think she’d not try to create division in the group like she did.

Again, theories:
1. It doesn’t further her goal at all; the reaction is genuine. She grew up an Eagan. Maybe the hero worship and lore is just ridiculous to her, and she couldn’t drink the Kool Aid with a straight face. It’s somewhat implied at this point that she is envious of her innie’s freedom. She might have just leaned too far into that.
2. There was some sort of plan to create an “us vs. them” mentality that backfired when Irving flipped out. I don’t think she expected that level of suspicion out of Irving (which, btw, I don’t think was really related to her disparaging the Deiter story anyway).

We did not know she wasn’t severed definitively.

And maybe it does stick out in the end, or maybe it all gets tied back together.

Also was the first time the characters themselves suggested maybe Lumon is cloning.

ETA: we are still in the first half of season 2. I don’t mind a little world building for Lumon and the Eagans.

So weird, I used to do the same thing with the marshmallows on family camping trips with my kids. Marshmallows are for TEAM players! Lol.

Maybe my favorite episode with the dark side of Irving and all the stuff with Helly and Mark. One distraction was looking at the puckered lip resting face of Dylan where he looks almost like he has had a brain injury. But his character was awesome in this episode.

I think the actor was born with a cleft palate or something similar. Looks just like some of my friends who have had that surgery.

Finished, was a meh episode for me up until the last few minutes.

As for the comments about Helly mocking the story, I think her love for Mark is more important than the family at this point. She was trying to win him over.

I think our mood when we watch has a lot to do with it. For me at least. I was in the perfect mood having just binged the series F-M.

I enjoyed the episode despite it being pretty different compared to the rest of the episodes. The world-building is more necessary this season and it's a pretty fascinating world to explore. It was a very abrupt beginning, I was starting to think I somehow missed an episode, I think we were all expecting Mark to be integrated and start tracking down his wife. Definitely did not expect this.

As for the Mark/Helena scene, I guess integration is not immediate. Which is why we see a brief glimpse of Ms. Casey. Hopefully, it doesn't drag out the rest of the season but when he does become fully integrated that's going to be really interesting to see how he handles both of his love interests.

I think she was just acting out what she thought Helly would do. There's a good chance Helly would have made fun of that story, although maybe not in front of Milchick.

I don't really think she's down there acting as a mole though. Just a guess but I think she went down there without the boards permission/knowledge.

But Milkshake def knows shes not Helly.... He knew she wasn't severenced out there.

He's a company man, so you'd think that he would ask that of Natalie or the Board if it was something they didn't want. Unless they will show that he has turned on them after the paintings.

I guess it depends on what happens the rest of the way. There are certainly some new questions now.

When Milchick said he would erase Irv "like he never even existed" is that a figure of speech or can they erase Irv from the other innies memories? Would reintegration allow Mark to retain all memories?

In the new intro, there's a baby Kier Eagan crawling in front of Mark while he sits on the bed. Did Mark just create the next Eagan with Helena?

That’s been there the whole season. But maybe that’s a reference to that.

Also doesn’t Helly have a husband on the outside? Hence the Helly R?

Have to go back to last season finale and first episode and see if she is wearing a wedding ring. I don't think she was.

Natalie introduces her outie as Helena Eagan. Maybe she didn't take her husbands name but maybe the R was used to keep the audience from figuring out who she is too soon.
