Can't believe the writing in an Edgar Wright movie could age so horribly. Joke after joke just falls horribly flat even before they get repeated 2 or 3 times, the references and overall vibe are stuck inexorably in 2010.

The sets are tiny and sparse. 90% of the movie is 2 or 3 people in a very small or very large space, by themselves, talking to each other.

fricking Michael Cera, man. Dude is fricking radioactive hot garbage in this, with that frick-ugly mug plastered in every scene front and center.

The music is still good.
The fight choreography is still good.
Chris Evans and Brandon Routh are still pretty funny.

I had issues with the story changes when it was released and was expecting to still hate them, but I was shocked at how bad much of the rest of this was. I saw this 3x in theaters and really enjoyed it, but that feels like a lifetime ago.

Prepare for the downvotes.

I didn't like it to begin with. I get why people do and can appreciate it for what it is, but it's just not my thing.

this is one movie that I never really got, but my wife absolutely loves and forces me to watch it with her like once a year

I'm not Cera hater, but goddamn I hate him in this movie

How is this a negative? It had a fairly low budget.

fricking Michael Cera

Easily the worst part of a good movie. Can't stand him either.

Honestly I think Scott Pilgrim vs the World is a very narrowly tailored film for people born between 1983 and 1993. I just rewatched it a few weeks ago, and I think it's aged very well and is one of the most quotable films of all time, but I can see 22 year olds these days aren't going to identify with it as much.

That's kind of the point though. Scott is a douchebag dating a high schooler and then just cruelly drags her along. The movie does not ignore that he is indeed a piece of shite.

I fall in that window and it's definitely one of my favorites. Probably watch it 2 or 3 times a year.

I just don't think I would have hated that character as much if it was someone else

and maybe that is a kudos to Cera

also, I fall into the 83-93 category and this movie was never for me

I didn't hate it, but I never got the love for it

I think Cera is perfectly cast as Scott. Scott is a fricking mooch who rains in on his gay roommates sex life, dates a high schooler and cruelly manipulates her for his own gain, is an absolute narcissist who thinks he deserves everything and shouldn't face any consequences for his actions... but people every other scene point this out to Scott. Plus it's funnier to see Michael Cera getting beat up by Chris Evans and Brandon Routh.

And he says Nega Scott is a really nice guy.

I had never heard of Scott pilgrim before seeing that movie and I laughed my arse off at it. I was also 14 at the time and my brother and I were definitely into the comic book/nerd culture more before it had really exploded from the avengers onward.

Wallace: Even I would think twice about dating a seventeen year old.
Scott: Well, she's only allowed out when the sun is up, so I wouldn't call it dating, more like-
Wallace: Playtime?
Scott: ...That doesn't sound so good either.
