Sam and Dean Winchester: incredible or incredibly incompetent?

Supernatural Spoilers:
Just finished episode 18 of season 6, where Castiel finally tells us his story of the war in heaven, and it brought this back to my mind.
All of these supernatural beings think Sam and Dean are so special. But the reality is if they weren't all constantly helping them, they would've died years ago and would be out of the picture and just be another soul in heaven/hell. It seems like now more than ever, they mess up and someone like Castiel bails them out.
I mean all you have to do is dangle a little kid in front of them or risk one of their lives and they are begging to sacrifice themselves or abandon their mission to help one person instead of a million ppl. I know them being flawed is good for the show, and it shows that they are really just normal people in extreme circumstances, but it does make me laugh. Either way can't wait for the end of this season and the next one.

Funny..I finally started this on Netflix a few weeks ago and am now a few episodes into season 7. Funny as hell...and despite how formulaic the thing is, it's really entertaining. Netflix needs to upload season 8 because I think season 9 is coming soon.

Read as far as you are on ep. 18 of Season 6. I can't get through 5. This season is freaking boring as balls. Is 6 better? To those who are caught up, is Season 5 an anomaly or is it like Dexter and this show just turns to complete crap?

Well yeah, they're still mortals fighting angels, demons, and other super powered monsters. They're bad asses either way. I don't think labeling them "incompetent" because they occasionally need assistance battling things only superheros really could is fair

No you're right, they can't really be expected to always beat those things. It's just funny how everyone acts like they're so important but they're only important bc they made them that way

I've wanted to start a thread about these two assclowns for a while now that I'm all caught up.
