RRR is cinematic poetry

I can nitpick a movie to death when context calls for it. But RRR was one of the most fun movies I’ve seen in many years.
It’s silly, funny, over the top, exciting, melodramatic, and emotional all at the same
time it’s impossible to take your eyes from the screen.
There’s such an innocence to Bollywood movies and while I haven’t seen many, RRR is the best by far. I liked this a lot more than Bahubali.
The reason why this works is, as I mentioned in the title, this movie is poetry. It’s aims and storytelling is so masterly done that the intent of the movie is what shines through.
Only complaint and it’s not a real one is there’s some real bad CGI but even that is kinda quaint

I hear great things about it.
Where did you see it?

It might be my #1 movie of 2022.
One odd quirk about the Netflix presentation is that the original language is Telugu, but on Netflix only a Hindi soundtrack is available. Not a big deal if you're reading subtitles, but you can still tell it's a dubbed track so you still sense that it feels a little 'off' .

It’s fun, but I need to finish it
It’s the same shite for 3+ hours. Over the top musical action
I also suck at this movie, because I’m too racist and I have a hard time distinguishing some of the characters from one another.

Did you watch in one sitting or break it up? 3 hours is intimidating

It’s a great watch. So many plot twists . Fantastic story telling.
It needs an intermission at midway, to be sure.
*I've yet to see Everything Everywhere All At Once, but I really did enjoy RRR.

Ebullient is the word you’re looking for.

I need to get around to this one. It sounds like it has some standard Bollywood elements. I think these are lost in translation watching from home.
I saw a blockbuster Bollywood movie in an India theater and it's probably the most fun I've had at a movie ever. The whole crowd gets really into these movies.

Awesome. Thanks for that link. Gives people an idea what it's like.
The theater I was at was the Raj Mandir in Jaipur. Single screen theater that holds 1,000 people. I was in the balcony taking it all in.

One sitting. In Hindi with subtitles (wish they had it in its original language which they don’t)
There’s so many plot twists it keeps things fresh.
It is a good movie to watch in a group. The most serious movie watcher there kept saying “oh, oh my, oh my” she couldn’t believe what was happening on the screen

Our family just finished watching this. Fantastic movie! Most fun we’ve had watching a movie in a few years. Amazingly choreographed action scenes, great music, captivating storylines, some beautifully filmed shots … how can you not root for this movie? Extremely entertaining and yes, over the top, but that’s what makes it special. And the final scene … haha my son said “every movie should end like this!”

Have you heard the story of the filming of the dance scene?
Because India had strict rules against groups during Covid, the who crew went to Ukraine, and that turquoise building in the background is a Ukrainian palace. The article I read said it took a month to film the whole dance off sequence.
The dance along audience had a few up on stage who got the moves!

Just finished this. I didn’t think it looked interesting, but wow was I wrong. This must have been a blast to watch in the theater. Just so ridiculously over the top that you can’t help but have fun.
I didn’t pay attention to the runtime. At one point I thought it was almost over, but I wasn’t even halfway there yet.

Just recently, in fact. I think it's being talked about more because of awards season. True dedication and focus on detail. Amazing.
