After a number of heated arguments and lots of name-calling and the occasional chaotic pie fight, we've narrowed down our choices for the greatest comedies of the 21st century. Culling this down to a mere 50 entries was a tough call – humor is a seriously subjective topic, and every one of our 19 writers weighing in had their own idea of what constitutes "hilarious."

10. 'State and Main' (2000)
9. 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' (2005)
8. 'Shaun of the Dead' (2004)
7. 'Toni Erdmann' (2016)
6. 'Punch Drunk Love'
5. 'Idiocracy' (2006)
4. 'Step Brothers' (2008)
3. 'Bridesmaids' (2011)
2. 'In The Loop' (2009)
1. 'Best in Show' (2000)

Rest of the list

Bridesmaids is funny but way too fricking high. Better than 40 Year Old Virgin, Shaun, Idiocracy? No way

How is Superbad not in the top 10?

I've never laughed so hard in a theater multiple times

In the top ten, two of the listed movies are from the 20th century.

Rolling Stone is dumb.

Edit:
Also, no "Super Troopers" or "Old School."

7 and 10? Me neither

ETA: Also, the year 2000 was the last year of the 20th century, so 2 of those top ten are already out of contention

Or #2 for me.

What a terrible top 10.

So bad I'm not even going to bother clicking the link to see the rest.

Stopped reading the list in depth when I saw Hail Caesar.

Got pissed when I saw that there was no Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Old School, I Love you Man, Role Models, Hot Tub Time Machine, or Wedding Crashers.

We can all sit here and argue about Top 5s or whatever, but to not have any of those movies I named in a TOP 50 list is completely absurd. And I'm sure that I'm forgetting some as I just rattled those off the top of my head.

Bridesmaids?

That was just a female remake of The Hangover without the hangover.

32. 'The Lobster' (2015)

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. And not remotely funny.

So, let me get this straight, "In the Loop" is not only funnier than Step Brothers, Idiocracy, and Sean of the Dead. It's also funnier than Zoolander, Ricky Bobby, Pineapple Express, The Hangover, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Meet the Parents, Elf, Walk Hard, Zombieland, Easy A, The Other Guys, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, Horrible Bosses, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Hot Tub Time Machine, and Ted? All of which did not even make the top 50.

I can't tell if you are mocking my list or in agreement that not having these in the top 50 is absurd
