And Disney has named its new streaming service Disney+.

quote:

Disney +, which is Disney’s upcoming streaming service, has announced a “Star Wars” prequel series to “Rogue One”, starring Diego Luna in the role of Cassian Andor. The live-action scripted series will follow the rebel spy during the early days of the Rebellion and ahead of the events of “Rogue One”.

Referring to the prequel, Luna stated “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

A launch date for the series has yet to be announced. News via StarWars.com.

If it features Baze and Chirrut, played by the same actors, and written by the same people, guarding the Jedi temple after the fall of the republic, I'm in.

Disney just does not understand what made Star Wars so popular. Hint it is not all the characters that are non-Jedi. Star Wars is a story of good versus evil mysticism. Having Star Wars stories without Jedi is like having lord of the rings without wizards.

There are several good Star Wars books and comics that have frick all to do with the Jedi.

Has anybody checked out this new animated show Star Wars Resistance? Looks like there has been about 5 episodes. Clone Wars and Rebels were amazing, so I’m open to giving this a shot.

I am not wrong. Star Wars with out Jedi/Sith is just a western. The best story, the OT, is all about the struggle of good and evil wizards with laser swords.

There are tremendous chunks of Lord of the Rings that have nothing to do with Wizards.

Star Wars is great precisely because it started out at its core as an extremely basic good VS evil classic hero's tale. It developed over the course of three movies, but it started out and remained true to basic concepts of the classic heros tale.

Lucas didn't even understand this as is evident from the prequels, but he understood the universe Star Wars occupies which is why parts of them worked and it felt like part of the overall story. But his thought process of "more Jedi and more light sabers" was terrible.

Disney completely and totally misunderstood all of this and made some horrible unforgivable movies that made no sense

Totally. I mean can you even name any non-Jedi characters? No one cares at all about:

Leia
R2
3PO
Biggs
Porkins
Wedge
Akbar
Tarkin
Needa
Lando
Han
Chewy

Are you insinuating that the Jedi were the ‘good’ side in the OT?

They were radical terrorists and this cannot be argued. People like you sicken me.

I think Rouge One is the best Star Wars movie since the original trilogy.

I’d argue it and TFA are the only two that aren’t awful, so saying RO is the best doesn’t mean much

I think it's a good movie.

But you're right. It's nothing to get overly excited about. I liked TFA too. But TLJ has hurt that movie because it makes a lot of it meaningless.

I prefer Jedi based SW movies and series also. The Jedi are what make SW unique.

Clone Wars and Rebels were heavily Force-centric. Imagine an animated show with no Jedi . . .

Live-action Star Wars belongs on the big screen. This is trash.

Jedi were still around and underground after the purge.

One thing Lucas did right in the Prequels was have Yoda and Obi-wan send out a signal beacon that everything is fricked.

Other material took advantage of this and had things like nameless Jedi attack the death star as a distraction for the spies to get the plans. Which is now retconned due to rogue one.

I guess they could still have the Jedi and spies proving the existence of the death star or something.
