I don't know why but this made me laugh. This dude with a stick is beating up on Stormtroopers with blasters
But this takes place in the time period whenever Storm Troopers couldn't hit anything but Jawas and their giant trashcan with blasters. If you were a normal sized person or even a Wookie you had nothing to fear.

This is a new story
we'll see, it may be really good, it may be ok, so long as it isn't a piece of shite, I'll eat it up.

When is the young anakin chronicles with Jake Lloyd starting?

I think you're just looking for stuff to complain about. I'm not the biggest fans of prequels since they're so often crap, but this is a story worth telling IMO.

and I really like the idea of using existing characters with new smaller individual and unrelated stories. Boba fett is ideal as his mysterious gun slinger x factor was ruined in the prequels, so why don't we flesh out the character and redeem him. a space western with boba fett set before or after the OT (i'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to imagine he could fly out of that monster)
as long as you make it adventurous and full of discovery you can do a lot of creative things as far as drifting into other genres. a star wars movie about an underworld organization (a mob movie kind of) I'm not suggesting making rom coms or romance movies or horror movies (though maybe that could be interesting)
Yeah, I could see that working and enjoying that for the Fett man. Pretty sure they had him surviving the Sarlacc multiple times in the old Expanded Universe.
And it's a huge universe. Not every story requires Jedi, which I think this one will be void of other than an appearance by Vader. Not only not needing Jedi, they could explore the Force in other ways. Jedi cannot and are not the only Force wielders out there.

Looks fricking incredible
remember when Cranston was going to be the protagonist of the movie and they killed him like 5 minutes into the movie and had that uninteresting Gaylord as the protagonist for the rest of the movie

Abrams has always preferred female protagonists
You really think it was Abrams who pushed a female lead and not Disney/Kennedy?
Abrams for sure supported it, but I would be shocked if it was not agenda driven by Kennedy. Especially after how she bragged about adding female leads and future female leads to Star Wars.

i'm not complaining
again, i'm excited, i'm speculating
on a scale of 1 to 10 the trailer brought me to an 7 or 8. I think it's interesting concept, and as a rule of thumb I give KK the benefit of the doubt even if the trailer looked like shite.

In terms of overall plot we know exactly what happens. The rebels score their first victory in a raid and successfully steal the plans to the Death Star. It's not quite the smaller story I'm looking for because it directly relates to the zero sum conclusion of the original
At the same time, there's the characters and their stories that can unfold in any number of ways.
The key to this movie is making us care about the characters for the short time we will be with them.
"Many Bothans died" implies most won't make it out of the movie.
So, knowing that the mission is a success... we already know the plot resolution. That won't be the driver. Characters are what is left. The challenge will be maximizing character presence on-screen.
My butt will be in the seat for this movie. I'm looking forward to it.

I want to see a standalone about the trillium massacre...would be awesome to learn more about the rathtars.

OK. I'm getting all kinds of confused. This is the stealing of the plans for the first death star, correct? If so, the bothans were responsible for the plans for death star 2.

You really think it was Abrams who pushed a Female lead
even in super 8 (which has a male protagonist)he seems to focus to the female character
but that's my speculation, I don't care so long as the movie is good.

correct, which further illustrates my point that jedi is a boring rehash...even the hardcore fans get confused
that line is from jedi, and no one knows what the frick a bothan even is

The Bothans were members of the Galactic Republic from at least 4000 BBY, but likely from a significantly earlier point. Through numerous conflicts, most notably the Galactic Civil War, the Bothans remained officially neutral, although their famed Spynet always played each side and commercial interests sought profits.
The Bothans were famously credited with stealing the plans to the second Death Star during the Battle of Korriban, enabling the Rebel Alliance to destroy the battlestation. However, many of them died to bring the Alliance this information. They played a large role in the founding of the New Republic and in the development of its government.
