No love for Robin and Marian with Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn?

Disney Robin is GOAT, BTW.

Right it was thr movie I watched over and over as a kid for the action!

Only people from your age group think this movie is good. It's good entertainment for kids. You guys are just nostalgic about it.

For anyone who saw that one as an adult, all other Robin Hood movies fall in line behind The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938).

Went and saw the new one over the weekend.

It would end up 5th on the list of Robin Hoods..

It just wasn't really Robin Hood..
Basic similarities...
Archer
Stealing
Etc..
But it was pretty lame.

1. Disney
2. Men in tights
3. Costner Hood
4. Russel Crow knights
4a. The French Robin hood in shrek
5. 2018 bad cast.
6. I'm young and haven't seen 1938

I recently saw it and I thought it was a steaming pile of dog shite. Way too political...Catholic Church was evil, rich white people were evil, wealth should be redistributed, Robin and his men dressed like Antifa members, Sheriff's men had riot shields, etc. That's not to mention the accents that were all over the place, the stupid love triangle between Robin, Marian, and Will Scarlett, and the crazy costumes (Marian looked like she had just stepped out of an MTV music video with her revealing gowns and heavy makeup).

I guess they were going for an "edgy" take on the legend, but they butchered it so badly.

The new one with Taron Edgerton is pretty good.

Not sure how this hasn't been mentioned yet:

The Disney RH is a disaster with respect to production as half the animation cels were recycled from The Jungle Book.

For being the first animated film after Walt died, that’s not so bad.

Disney RH as far as plot point, characterization, voice acting, music and tone, pretty much nails Robin Hood.

Prince of Thieves gets a demerit from me by not having Prince John, though Rickman was indeed awesome.

Little John was also kind of a throwaway character in it too.

The toy line that came out for it was awesome.

My favorite is Robin Hood (1991) with Patrick Bergin and a VERY young Uma Thurman. It's the most faithful to teh spirit of the story, I think, though it doesn't have an iconic actor in the lead.

I caught this one on TV one night a few years ago. I didn't know it existed. Apparently, it came out around the same time as the Kevin Costner version. It seemed kind of low budget but it wasn't bad. My only complaints were that Sir Miles was a pretty weak villain (no Sheriff or Prince John) and Uma Thurman played Marian as a bitch.

Outstanding movie. Back when the studios were spying on each other and rushing to production competing films, this one got buried by the Costner movie, but was the better movie. Though, to be fair, the Costner film is insanely entertaining.

Still, my favorite Robin Hood is the BBC television series in the 80s. I was addicted to that.

your words are funny b/c i intentionally said it was a great movie and NOT film

and yes i know nostalgia plays a factor, but it's legit entertaining even with Costner's acting/accent issues

in the same ranking that listed the 91 movie they called POT unfunny and i was like

I have no idea why they did that, but I thought it worked pretty well, presenting the major players as basically old friends who had a huge falling out.

The original tale is thought to be born out of the huge cultural clashes that arose after 1066, so I like the angle historically. Anyway, they could easily dub in the names "Sheriff" for the Baron and "Sir Guy" for Sir Miles and it's the same exact story.
