the americanized, mulleted, toy-feuled, Bryan Adams-inspired version is still a great movie (not film)
i found it on Netflix and am watching for the first time in probably 5 years. still beast mode, and i probably say that primed after seeing previews for the new completely shitty Robin Hood coming out
anyone who doubts me deserves to face the Sheriff's wrath:
That's it then. Cancel the kitchen scraps for lepers and orphans, no more merciful beheadings, and call off Christmas

Costner’s performance had me rooting for the sheriff.

Yeah recently rewatched it out of nostalgia and it's pretty fricking cheesy.
It's just not that good. Costner in bad form vs. Christian Slater in usual form...does not a great movie make.
We all need to get over that Bryan Adams song and judge the movie accordingly.

It’s easily the best Robin Hood and one could argue the greatest movie of all time.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is still the 2nd GOAT Robin Hood
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) is the GOAT Robin Hood

At least I didn't use a spoon!

I don’t care what anyone says. This is a solid movie. The accents don’t bother me, and Rickman is about as automatic as you can get for an actor playing a villain.

yeah Coster is clearly the weakest part of the movie and that just is what it is. Rickman more than makes up for Costner's issues

Kevin Costner's performance on Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves aside, I really enjoyed that movie as a kid growing up. I still watch it today when I see it on TV. Alan Rickman chews up every piece of scenery when he's on screen. I freaking love him in this! Morgan Freeman is also pretty bad arse and I really love Michael Kamen's amazing score as well as the fight scenes. Prince of Thieves is two hours of pure, unbridled, popcorn entertainment.

Unlike some other Robin Hood's, I can speak with an English accent

Only 2 Robin Hoods in my eyes...
