That grainy clip looks more like a Fantastic Four comic brought to life than anything Fox did in 3 movies. Galactus peering through the window at the end was pure nightmare fuel.
I am so happy they are finally trying to do justice with these characters

Looks great tbh. Maybe Marvel is finding their groove again

It appears they are leaning very heavily into the retro futurist 60’s vibe
Kind looks like the Fall Out stuff.

It does now that you say it.

If they do this correctly, this could be Downey's easiest acting payday ever. He'll be able to phone in his voice work while a team of body-doubles walk around in Doom outfits. Plus whatever "Producer" checks they had to agree to for future films.
Please don't show his face other than in one or two flashback scenes.

Even with flashbacks you won't necessarily see the Tony Stark look. He'll change his hair, shave the Van Dyke Beard and it will be fine.
I mean, every one of these is RDJ

Did the announce if he is playing Victor Von Doom, or some multiversal variant Tony Stark Doom?

This is a small thing, but the way he introduced himself with his arms out wide....IS TONY STARK.
and that obviously is going to be the challenge, but every mannerism he had at that role out was prime Tony Stark. So with Doom and Iron man being twisted together at points they are going to have to be really creative with the writing because otherwise this is an odd move.
In contrast, what happened with Chris Evans was okay. The two characters didn't really have a ton/if any interaction with each other. Chris Evans also grew up from the edgy trouble maker to a mature adult (as far as castings).

For context...the same arms wide

Having the Russo Brothers direct is bigger than getting RDJ.
Another huge bit of news for Doomsday being overlooked:

I read a deep dive by some comic book nerds that had a plausible explanation based on the comics.
I’ll have to see if I can find the link.

It’s still fricking weird but if RDJ gives off a Thanos-Brolin level performance then people mostly won’t care. Plus, the Russo’s seem to direct better MCU movies than regular movies so there’s a huge plus.
But I do worry that the universe will be just done with Doom after these two movies. I’d much rather RDJ just play a variant of Doom from the F4 timeline and there will be a new Doom that is cast afterward that will hang around. He’s too integral of a villain to just toss him aside. Thanos’s presence permeated the entire MCU Infinity Saga. He had appearances. Doom should be the same way…except maybe even more appearances.!
Doom hasn’t been built up at all. And we’re gonna get him for two movies and then never again.

has it been discussed that RDJ was up for the Doom role back in the original F4 days?

I think they specifically said Victor Von Doom.
Posted on 7/29/24 at 10:50 pm to imjustafatkid
They did. But I bet they change him slightly to where it’s something stupid like he was born Stark but his parents died much earlier and he was adopted and his “new family” renamed him Victor and he took their last name or some stupid shite like that.
They wouldn’t have to if they would just keep him behind the mask the entire time but like someone else said, you don’t hire RDJ to keep him behind the mask the entire time…unless they have him take his mask off and he’s a disfigured frick like Deadpool

The same company who had Rey become a skywalker would absolutely do this dumb shite
Posted on 7/29/24 at 10:57 pm to WicKed WayZ
I think they'll stick with the multivers bullshite just to fit the fantastic 4 into the marvel universe
