Looks like they were stabbed to death. You might be right about the suspect. Jesus that’s horrible and sad.

Drugs, I get. But how does the son of a rich Hollywood type (remember he owns a big piece of Seinfeld along with his hit movies) ever become homeless? You would think the parents would buy a place for him to live in and pay the utilities. I don't really see Reiner as the tough love type but I wonder if that's what led to the stabbing?

Kid will probably go the Menendez route and claim he was the real victim.

You learn very quickly with addicts that you can’t do that or they will absolutely take you for all you have when in their addiction.

Just horrible. Feel incredibly sad for the daughter who found them.

Reiner was such a wonderful director.

This is a horrific and sad event. I’ve always heard that Reiner. Was a good guy.

I actually didn't realize the son wrote the screenplay for one of Rob's films, based on his own his life. It's called "Being Charlie" and is currently on Tubi.

I wonder if there's going to be a sequel.

Too soon?

Horrible freaking story. To be brutally murdered by one of your children has to be one of the worst ways to go for many reasons...

Rob was a great director. He directed a ton of my childhood favorites. He was a loony dude too.

RIP to him and his wife. Another one of the thousands upon thousands of needless deaths in the world.

Reiner was likely doing tough love, which sadly is also likely why the kid killed him.

I'm not going to comment on the man personally. I am thankful to him for:

Spinal Tap
Princess Bride
Stand By Me
Misery
When Harry Met Sally
The Sure Thing
A Few Good Men

and others, but those are the highlights for me. I think Stand By Me is his best film.

I've learned through family and friends that it doesn't matter how much money you have or how hard you try to force a person into a "normal" life, the combination of mental illness and drugs/alcohol can still lead a person to hide in homelessness.

Homelessness and drug addiction start out as or inevitably become trauma coping and brutal mental illness. Throwing money at it does nothing. Addiction is truly one of the least understood and most harmful elements of our current western society. You cannot throw money at or ignore addiction. You cannot isolate your way out or wall off addiction. You have to confront it and work with it and help someone overcome it. It truly takes a village and an empathetic path. But we are so blind and hateful and spiteful and easily distracted we refuse to acknowledge it. It’s sad. And any actual attempts at help are either decried by outside pathetic people or sued to oblivion by ruthless opportunistic jackasses.

Reiner might’ve not been popular politically politically but you shouldn’t cheer on death or revel in someone else’s suffering. That’s one of the most unchristian qualities you can have.

Don’t fall into the trap of unrestrained hateful group think social media and our current generation try so hard to force on everyone.
