Only issue I have:
The row upon rows of star destroyers single frickin file.
Did they not watch the last movie?? I mean one large Mon Calamari cruiser lightspeed into that, ends the day..

The worse part of it is that Star Wars already had a rich history of very strong and powerful women Jedi in the expanded universe. .They went from relatively imperfect padawans to very capable and powerful Jedi masters. Look at Satele Shan or Ahsoka Tano's character growth. But both these characters make mistakes and needed life experience to become interesting characters. Both would have been a great model for Rey's character, but Rey is just a lifeless character.
The source material was all there; all Disney had to do is make it come alive and they blew it. They erased 20+ years of backstories and rules for the SW universe.

.. Good to know I'm not alone. Also, not sure why everyone is hating on the duel saber.. While it does look a bit cumbersome, it's not new. Jedi temple guards carried something extremely similar.

Theres no doubt Disney's plan was as followed:
1. Kill off main characters that arent Disney creations as soon as possible
2. Introduce new DISNEY characters and sell the ever living frick out of them

I don’t know. I think J.J. Abrams knows how to tell a story and realizes that there is some conflict needed. The problem is he has a limited time to get it accomplished. I could see him making her turn dark very early in the movie to redeem her about midway through. Granted, that makes TLJ pointless, but it’s pointless anyway.

How freaking bad arse would it have been to show Kylo learning to be a smuggler from his dad? I mean, you could have even shown him "running" from the resistance and taking sides with his dad because frick all that responsibility noise. Then the shite hits the fan, someone kills his dad and he snaps and decides its time to learn the force to settle some scores. So he goes to find Uncle Luke because Dad always kept in touch.
That would have made for good story telling.

Perhaps Palpatine's essence transfer can only be stopped by Anakin? Rey and/or Kylo fight the current physical form of Poppa Palpatine and when they destroy it Akakin steps in as a Force Ghost and destroys Sidious' force being as he is trying to transfer it to another host?

I had the thought the "1000 generations live in you now" line is actually being delivered to a redeemed Ben but you're right. No way is that going to happen.

And I think the "rule of two" is more of a guideline. Maul is confirmed as an actual Sith and not just an assassin. This is while Sidious is apprentice to Plageius so no rule of two there. During the Clone Wars Dooku had Savage and Ventress while under Sidious.

Thats fair.
I guess ill have to go back and watch the previous 2 movies. I dont have the hate for them like others. Its an incredible story and I thought they were great. I dont get too bogged down in minor conflits in story line. There are too many to move a story forward and people are going to get upset about anything.
The only thing i'll say about the previous 2, was that I thought they tried to cram too many things into the movie. its hard to have the right buildup.
