I was never a fan of Catelyn or Ned.

Cat was a bitch, and Ned was just dumb.

Not that I disagree. I don't like her either, and think she is a bitch, but it was in her eyes a slap to her face. It was very rare for a bastard to be raised with noble children from what I understand.

Not his fault though.

Her anger was misguided....which seems to be a problem with her.

A lot of blaming the child for the circumstances of their birth going around in Westeros.

I always thought it was awesome how everyone, especially Cat, went on and on about how noble and honorable Ned Stark was, all while she raised his kid from some whore he knocked up. I guess it was just how things were in those times and banging whores on the side was just a way of life and a natural born right.

From the conversation Robert and Ned have talking about Jon Snows mother, you definitely take away that it was an isolated incident.

And Ned was ashamed of it.

Where as Robert bangs whores on the reg.

I may have been more excited when I read she was killed instead of Joffrey.

Not much difference frbetween her and her sister other than one of them stopped breast feeding children before the age of 10.

I can't remember; who did Caitlyn love before Ned? Did she actually want Littlefinger or was it only the other way around?

That was one-sided from Littlefinger. Catelyn was originally engaged to Ned's brother Brandon, and Littlefinger challenged Brandon to a duel for her hand. Littlefinger gloriously lost, but Brandon spared Littlefinger for Cat and just sliced him up a bit instead. Brandon then went down to King's Landing when he found out that Rhaegar abducted his sister Lyanna. Both Brandon and his father were brutally killed by Aerys, and so Catelyn then became engaged to Ned instead.

Cersei does nothing but act impulsively and never thinks through her actions. She just got lucky with Ned and the fact that Littlefinger betrayed him. The stars just alligned for her then, but she hasn't done anything smart or calculating since then.

Robert and Cersei had the most dysfunctional, destructive marriage in the series. They had ZERO compatibility, and their 'marriage alliance' didn't do much IMO.

She shares almost as much responsibility with Littlefinger for starting the war.

same here. i didn't hate ned but wasn't a big fan. the lannister's were always the bad guys and the stark's good. granted, there's some sucky lannister's but tyrion was probably the best on the show so his existence put the two families pretty even in my book.

cat is now playing the bad guy (woman) on this season's 24.

Maybe not calculated...but she is way more deliberate in her actions than Cat.

All of her actions go towards her main mantra..."Anyone that isnt "Us" is the enemy"

Where Cat operates on protecting her family and thinking people are good.

I don't know if you've read the books, and it's been a while since I have but I got the impression that Ned and Catelyn wed out of a sense of duty/responsibility after Brandon's death. She's loyal to Ned but I'm not quite sure she truly loved him, at least not like she did his brother.

I don't know if it's a legit book quote or not but a joke apparently is "Ned Stark is the most honorable man in Westeros. Just ask his bastard."

I don't know how to comment on this without spoiling something for the Hodors (obviously the x + x = x theory).
