HIMYM has a great re-watchability factor. I've seen lots of episodes multiple times...and still funny. I tend to stick with the first 3-4 seasons though, and skip most of the Stella stuff.

I agree. There are some episodes I've never seen and others I've seen 4 or 5 times on reruns.

After multiple viewings and rewatches the ending has grown on me. Basically he's telling his kids who are finally old enough the story of crazy adventures he's been on. And how he eventually met their mother. But he started with Robin. Subconsciously he told them everything about her showing he still had feelings for her.

I think the ending would of been fine without the last season and Barney/Robin not happening for the second time. It didn't make sense. Barney should of ended up marrying Quinn and the last season should of happened with the whole Robin flying away garbage. With the last season it was just a mess of an ending.

Plus the actress who played the mother made you like her too much. Mother shouldn't of been in it that much with that ending.

The issue I always had with Robin being Ted's wife/kid's mother is he pulls absolutely zero punches about her early on.

Watched every episode as they aired, but I grew tired of it for the last 2 or 3 seasons. Stuck with it because we had invested in it that far.

Can not imagine ever re-watching it. But I seldom re-watch even shows I liked.

The other one is when she almost bolts to Italy when Marshall is struggling and they just had the kid.

Not only did she do this, she was going to make Marshall end his pursuit of becoming a JUDGE which he spent the entire series dreaming of, so he could watch the kids because she got a frickin good job offer

And then when he points out that her shitty arse already LEFT him once for a job in San Fran and he took her back after she clearly sucked at being an artist....then SHE GETS frickING MAD! "I can't believe you are gonna throw that in my face!!!!" And WALKS OUT AGAIN ON HIM.

Ugh I could write a 500 page paper on how big a kunt lily is.

Same. I hate her with a passion. Another time she pissed me off is when she held a grudge against Ted and almost ruined a holiday (forgot which one) when she heard a really old voicemail Ted left for Marshall calling her a bitch or count.

Guess what Lilly, you left your husband. You are a count.

For me in it's best couple seasons, it's better than any other show I watch. Most seasons it's a pretty good show. In it's worst couple seasons, it's not all that. There is definitely a drop off with the show after season 6. 7 and 8 are not good. 9 really isn't good except for the mother episodes. The mother was awesome.

Stick to seasons 1-5. 1-3 is awesomeeeeeeeeee(in Barney voice). 4 and 5 have some good stuff but probably not up to 1-3 standards. Seasons 6-9 I pretty much blocked from my memory.

I'm pretty sure that it was Christmas. He called her a bitch, but changed it to "Grinch" for the kids sake in the story.

Anyone who doesn't like the ending, doesn't understand the show. It was perfect.

Overall the show is my favorite of all time, and one I will go back and rewatch many times.

I've got to strongly disagree there. This isn't like LOST, where people legitimately didn't understand what was happening.

This is a lighthearted sitcom, there isn't really much to "get" or understand. We were led for 9 years on this story of how Ted meets the mom. We then see her for like 20 total minutes of screen time, we love her (her character is so awesome for Ted), then she's gone as quickly as she appeared. Then one day Ted is just like oh, hey, think I"ll see what Robin is up to!

It was cheap and a slap in the face to the audience. And that's just Ted's arc..don't get me started on the ridiculous robin/barney wedding storyline that was built for a full season (that dragged on endlessly it seemed) also to have the rug pulled out on us "oh yeah, nevermind we're actually not getting married anymore sike!!"

I really really like HIMYM but the ending was pretty frickin bad, and I don't actually see any way it could be considered "perfect". If we wanted the very last scene to be Ted and Robin together I have zero problem with that, but the way they got to that point was ridiculous.

Yeah. Me too. Show should have been called, "Kids, I want to Bang Aunt Robin Some More... Hear Me Out."

The ending + flashbacks really makes the whole show weird.

Throughout the seasons he is telling his kids about all the women he had sex with + telling his kids about their dead mom and how he really wanted Robin the whole time.

It's been a while since I watched that season, but what is the story on this? I remember them getting married and eventually getting divorced. Am I not remembering correctly?

Also, as far as the end of the show. It would have worked if the show last 4-5 seasons. 9 seasons just made it annoying. Ted went back to the Robin well way too often, and it never worked. Also, like someone else said, the wife was so likeable, that it was frustrating that they killed her off 10 minutes after they get together. Finally, I can understand having Robin and Barney divorce, but you can't do it after you spent an entire season on their wedding. That makes the whole last season unwatchable a second time. You spend probably 300 minutes of screen time on a marriage that ends after 5 more minutes of screen time.
