In my humble opinion, they should fire Kennedy and all of the people she brought with her into Lucasfilm.

Because they were totally tone-deaf.

No other franchise had more empiracle evidence to get it right and they rejected all the evidence and history...for silly reasons.

Why didn’t they give this to Bruce Timm five years ago?

Disney needs to out a nerd in charge and just sign the checks. This has been a severely mismanaged franchise.

Does this mean Mickey will beat up the Jonas Brothers and trash South Park again?

This seems to be the biggest case of killing the golden goose in history.

I can’t think of another franchise or business that became so devalued in a short period of time thanks to new leadership without bringing politics into it.

When you have the largest grossing franchise of all time and its appeal crosses most demographics, you don’t frick with that just because you are upset that the cast is too white and male. Or if you do that, make sure your brainchild changes don’t get shite on worse than Jar Jar Binks.

I think TLJ was only focus grouped at Berkley

I know we talk about the political angle a lot, but completely wrecking the storyline was what took away any hope I had for the rest of the franchise. I don't believe they can repair it in one movie.

That's why I wish they could retcon episode 8.

With 8 as canon, there is no hope for future stories in the line.

The combination of directorial decisions and Carrie Fisher’s death have made TLJ a break from the previous franchise.

We’ll likely see Luke walking out of the shower to start Episode IX at this point with TLJ written off as a Force dream of a potential bad present/future.

I can understand not wanting to try and fix this mess. It’s amazing to me, I grew up with Star Wars. I still remember seeing the first film as a young boy at the drive in theater and being totally blown away. I had every toy, watched every film, cartoon, even the God awful Christmas special and couldn’t get enough of it. The prequels brought renewed excitement and even though they were ultimately a letdown, it didnt make me hate the franchise. The Force Awakens was very good to me and I was so excited for the next film. Then along came TLJ. I don’t think it would be possible to frick up the franchise any worse then that movie did it. It’s like it was intentionaly made to alienate the core fans. I was so angry at first but now, I just have no interest in it anymore. I won’t go see IX, because I just don’t care. The story they made means nothing to me now. I don’t think it’s fixable.

I'd tell them to frick off too after I set them up with some nice storylines only to see them throw them all in the garbage.

I feel the same way. As soon as the credits rolled after Luke and Rey's exchange at the end of TFA, I couldn't wait to see how they would follow it up. I was so excited.

After TLJ ended, I was completely in disbelief at what I had just watched.

I had already walled this new trilogy off from the canon of the OT in my head, but after TFA which actually felt like Star Wars (something the prequels never accomplished) my hopes were way up. I never thought they could frick it up so bad. It was so, so bad. What conflict does Kylo Ren have? What conflict does Rey have? What room do they have to grow as characters? It was on a silver platter for them.

1. Rey trains with Luke, who is the same we left at ROTJ, but scarred by Kylo leaving. Rey has a vision of everyone in danger, Luke reminds her that not all visions are true. They argue about destiny, the Force, and a Jedi's place in war. CONFLICT.

2. Snoke demotes Hux after TFA failure. Sends in big bad (Benicio) who runs a crueler, more experienced campaign. Kylo feels slighted and passed over. CONFLICT.

3. After his demotion, Hux defects to the Resistance. Leia, Fin, and Poe argue over whether to trust him. CONFLICT.

Everything comes to a head.

Rey trusts Luke and continues her training. Hux betrays the Resistance, directly leading to the death of Leia (possibly by his own hand). Poe takes over leading the still sizable Resistance. Luke, seeing the death and destruction left in his absence, agrees to leave with Rey to confront Snoke. Kylo swears vengeance on Hux, who was shown to be working in Snoke's good graces the whole time.

If I can write that in 5 minutes, what the frick was RJ thinking?

There are posters om here that would argue that the reason Solo did poorly is ONLY 2 reasons:

1)The release date, which didn't seem to have any bearing on 2 other blockbusters released nearby.

2)Racism, sexism, toxic fans, the usual left-wing epithets

They got greedy and wanted to print money a couple times a year...they couldn't wait or be bothered to actually flesh out the franchise with a cogent story-line on it's 3rd leg.

They bought it and thought it was foolproof.

They messed with the wrong fanbase.
