This id definitely a problem with his show, but it's also a problem with a lot of news you see on a field one is an expert in. You'll see or read something and go, "That's not how it works."
I highly recommend it

I used to like his show back when it first started. He was good on the Daily Show too. But jeez, his schtick grew old fast. He's too much of a try hard, I know better than you, type of person.

You mean a guy that uses the argument “It’s (the current year)” isn’t telling the whole story?

So you want the guy who makes his entire identity and full show about trying to make fun of the right politically to be immune from talking about politics when discussing him?
How much of a safe space do you need, pussy?
Is bill maher exempt too?

Careful. Quoting a great libertarian site will get the Magas in their feels.

"Social science" is damn near an oxymoron anyway. The "science" part isn't in the same universe as the physical sciences.

I've said for quite a while, nothing will make you lose faith in "the news", documentaries or editorial commentary faster than watching something about which you are an expert.
It is ALL propaganda for their POV. There is very little actual reporting of facts. Many will claim this is a new phenomenon, I suspect it's always been this way, we just have better ways of fact-checking these days.

The Reason article says John is believed to make $30,000,000 a year.
Nice.
Nice.

It goes beyond even that.
Years ago when my wife was still a flight attendant, there was an issue on her flight where a lithium battery began burning so the flight had to make an emergency landing.
What happened was that people (customers and flight crew) noticed smoke in the cabin. A customer stood up with a smoldering backpack and my wife called motioned him to bring it to the back galley (where she was). He put it down on the plastic/rubber mat there and she hit it with the halon gas.
It was a battery for a vape/e-cig and he had been charging it with it in his laptop bag (meaning it couldn't keep cool so it was overheating). By the time she hit it with the halon, it had caused enough damage to fall out of the backpack so it would roll when she sprayed it (thus not being able to put it out). She had to stop, get the garbage out of the galley bin (it's metal), grab two Coke cans to pick the battery up (because it was so hot) and drop it into the bin so it couldn't roll while she put it out with the halon.
There was smoke, but there was never a fire. But how does it get reported?
Flight diverted when lithium battery catches fire onboard.
quote:
A lithium battery in a passenger’s backpack caught fire
It never caught fire.
quote:
A passenger on the plane, 18-year-old Kailey Honniball, said that about two and a half hours into the flight she heard a message over the PA system: “Sounds like fire in 25!”
Never happened. At most it would have been "Safety team to G5" (Galley 5), but she would have to check her notes if even that was said since it happened and was over so quickly.
quote:
“I was really scared,” Honniball said. “When you see a fire
There was never a fire.
quote:
Flight attendants grabbed the backpack, put it in a rear aircraft lavatory and closed the door, the incident report states. This apparently stopped the battery from overheating.
Yes, putting a smoldering battery in a bathroom and closing the door puts the battery out.
quote:
Grand Rapids Ford Airport spokeswoman Tara Hernandez confirmed that a lithium battery started smoldering, but said it was not a laptop battery. There was a laptop in the bag with it, she said.
True, but not the whole truth. It was an e-cig/vape battery in a charger. The customer had plugged the charger into the power outlet at the seat and then put the charger in his bag.
This is a very simple story about an emergency situation of a battery smoldering but being stopped before it could catch fire, but that wasn't good enough so it had to be a "fire".
