I'd assume they think that

I gotta believe the IRS is watching this show.
Speaking of mob connections, Caroline and her husband own a banquet hall with one ballroom and are bringing in that kind of dough? Uh huh... another great business to launder money through. And don't get me started on their 19 year old whose dream it is to own a high class strip club and car wash where his strippers wash cars during the day.

The divorced chick asking the guy to join her in the bathroom was probably scripted. Gotta keep the audience entertained.
Reality TV is garbage, although I admit that this show does hold my attention.

She can't deposit that type of cash without the banks filing with the feds... so have to spend it. It's a great way to laundry money. They know all the tricks.

Yeah he's a grade-A douche bag.
I like Caroline, she seems to have her shite together, but it bothers me that her kids cannot function without her. I think it was the first episode where they couldn't tie their ties, do makeup, put on shoes, etc. without Caroline doing it for them. It's like the adult equivalent of breastfeeding. She needs to cut them off

Kind of. She's definitely the matriarch of the family.

No joke. She had to beg them to leave her be so that she could get ready. It does bother me that they have all of this money, but only one of their kids is going to college. And that she supports the 19 year olds moronic dreams.

Wow, I log in to TD and there's a 7-page thread on the Real Housewives . Awesome
Dina, Jacqueline, and Caroline are not connected to low-level mobsters. Low-level mobsters don't live in McMansions in Bergen County.

Sisters Dina and Caroline Manzo - they married a pair of Jersey brothers - provide a real-life link to "The Sopranos" for the Bergen County-based program. Their father-in-law, Albert (Tiny) Manzo, was executed mob-style in August 1983, after he and Gambino family soldier Peter A. Campisi were suspected of skimming from a mob casino on Staten Island.
"A couple of weeks later, they found Tiny Manzo in the trunk of his car," recalled Robert Buccino, a New Jersey organized crime expert. The 350-pound mobster took four slugs to his torso. His naked body - the arms and legs bound in plastic - was discovered in the trunk of his parked Lincoln-Continental outside a supermarket in Hillside, N.J. The killing was never solved. Campisi, a made man and Tiny's partner in the casino, suffered a similar fate, Buccino recalled.
The colorful Manzo, who ran for mayor of Paterson in 1974, also owned the Brownstone Restaurant - one of the main backdrops for action in "Housewives." His two wealthy sons, Albert and Tommy, still operate the venerable Paterson catering facility.

Awesome to get these things confirmed!
I'm not a big fan of coke or strippers, but somehow, when you combine the two and put it on TV, it's golden!

Awesome. I'm sure Bravo is pissed at this blog for ruining their big surprise a week in advance. It's kind of interesting that she was still stripping into 1992 because her oldest daughter was either born in 1994 or 1995. To go from stripping to a black card in a few years is pretty impressive. I'm curious to see if we will ever learn the identity and occupation of "Mr. Staub".

Damn, NJ.com is killing it with those story. Here's some more info for anyone interested.

The book also details Merrill's criminal past: A few moments after meeting the undergarments-averse Merrill at a Miami drug party, Maher is told that Merrill is out on $10,000 bail. Apparently, Merrill was partying with a drug dealer who had kidnapped a rich kid who owed him $25,000. The dealer beat the kid up, starved him, then called the kid's father for ransom.
The police busted them and charged Merrill with extortion, kidnapping and possession, but Maher, with his law enforcement connections, helped her work out a deal in which she pleaded guilty to extortion. She got five years' probation, according to the book.
Maher, who is married, leaves his wife and marries Merrill (but couldn't be bothered to divorce his first wife first). They settle in Elmwood Park and try to have a baby before Maher realizes Merrill is "not mother material." Merrill finds work dancing under the name Danielle at Satin Dolls in Hackensack -- we're guessing that Kipps got the location wrong; Satin Dolls, the stand-in for the Bada-Bing in "The Sopranos," is in nearby Lodi. (There's the inevitable "Sopranos" connection!) Maher discovers Merrill is cheating on him and eventually leaves her.

So homeboy figured that some whore he met at a coke party might have been mother material prior to marrying her?
REALLY?
