I liked the amizon series. Over the top at times but it was good IMO

Just reached the part in the book where Picard reveals himself to Reacher and Finely. Biggest differences so far:
- there is no cousin, Reacher versus the son in the pool.
- he did not kill the assassins in New York, just got away from them.
- he hooked up with Roscoe much sooner in the books.
- So far Stephenson is alive and not a part of the issue.

I liked it all. The first season was enjoyable. The Reacher actor is great!
This is still the worst place to get opinions on anything film/television because most people here think they're a God damned credentialed critic.

I love how Reacher mocked Finely to his face when he had a gun on him. Dude has a set. Also, the book is better in the showdown with Picard scene.

Finish the book, great ending, better than the show. Reminds me of the scene where joker burns his half of the cash.

He’s former MP
In the real Army, would Staff Sergeant James R. "Fatso" Judson (Ernest Borgnine in From Here to Eternity) be an MP? My dad used to transport prisoners from Honolulu to San Francisco, when the final destination was Ft Leavenworth. Kind of like Nicholson in The Last Detail.
My dad was there when From Here to Eternity was being filmed. He's in the opening, where they show what looks like hundreds of soldiers marching with their squads.

He then lost 30 pounds when shot by Hobie.

Never read the books. I liked the Reacher element from the Cruise movies as a smaller but badass guy whose foes always underestimate to their detriment.
This monster no sane person would ever cross.
But looks good first episode.
ETA: Sold.

I'm reading my first Reacher book right now, it is the one that they used for the first Tom Cruise movie. I knocked out like 20% of it quickly, a real page turner. Good stuff.

At times this show felt very Justified-ish.
Really enjoyed it. At times it really turned up the cheese and ridiculousness, but given its an action book from the 90s, thats what I expected

So I’m a little behind the times, finally got around to watching this on Amazon. I get to episode 7 and for whatever reason I’m paying attention to the opening credits and I see it’s directed by Lin Oeding.
Lin is a friend from Kingwood High School. I knew he did some stunt work out of high school but apparently now he’s directing and I had no idea. Should lead to bigger movies I’d think?

I'm sure this happens more often than we think, where a director emerges from an ancillary part of the film industry. Here a stunt-man, who knows action, directs an action-centric show. There've been plenty of SFX artists that ended up directing CGI films/tv shows bc they were already proficient with greenscreen/motion-capture/etc work. Or where a career editor, skilled with pacing, is confdent he can direct a tense horror flick.

Finally getting around to this one. Mostly pretty awesome. Got the cop from iZombie, playing a cop again. And an attractive blonde chick in one of the lead roles.
I don't know why Reacher looks like an android when he walks around. He's got personality. can talk and deliver lines just fine. Is that how Reacher is in the books?
The upside is that he's got a full time poker face, which plays in well with what he's up against. Doesn't tip his at to no one.
Details matter. Good stuff.

Reacher is a monster in the books. It's been a while since I read the first bunch, but he definitely would lean into the fact people just thought he was a dumb thug. Very similar to Spenser for Hire.

And also reminds me a bit of Burn Notice. Only a R-rated version of it.
I half expected his private investigator buddy was gonna be Sam Axs or Michael Westen

I am on book six. Reacher is 6”5” and 250 lbs of muscle. He dropped down to 230 after being shot in Tripwire. But is back up to 250 by Book Six.

Sounds like my kind of series. Gonna have to check it out.

I read the first book and wasn't inspired to read the second.
Liked the Tom Cruise movie well enough.
Liking this series actually. Kind of refreshing in a throwback kind of way.
But the dude playing Finlay is straight up terrible. There's credible acting for the most part but his guy stands out really badly.
