So if I'm 20 years old and going to see a movie, I might get hassled about not being 25? It's a great rule but if someone actually refuses to sell me a ticket because I'm not 25 past 8PM I would lose it.

Yet another idiot who has ZERO reading comprehension.

By the way, why is everyone afraid of teenagers standing outside of a movie theater?
Only pussies would be afraid to walk past a bunch of kids to go to the movies.

Again ya'll - Only people UNDER the age of 17 will not be allowed inside unless they have someone 25 or older.
If you're 17, you'll be able to watch movies all day and night at Rave.

I wish they would do this in PHX as well.

Just an update to what was discussed here not too long ago.
I am a manager at Rave Motion Pictures and wanted to spread the word that we will be enforcing a new minor policy starting May 8th at both the Mall of Louisiana 15 and Baton Rouge 16 locations. No person under the age of 17 will be allowed enter our building after 8pm unless supervised by someone 25 years age or older. No children under the age of 6 will be allowed into a rated 'R' feature after 6pm (no exceptions).
This policy is being enacted to re-affirm our guests that we are a family movie theater.
I just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts or concerns as I am going to have more details tomorrow.
This is a great idea. I used to go to the movies all the time, but it seems like the past few years, every theater has turned trashy and everyone talks in movies. You pretty much have to go see a matinee in a movie that has been out for a while to make sure your movie experience will be fine.
I thought Citiplace was the trashy theater, and perkins Rowe and Rave Mall were the nice ones. Hopefully it returns to that way after this rule is enforced.
Please keep us updated, so I can know if I can start going back to the movie theater again.

Is this a typo? Do people really take 6yo to R rated films?
At the Rave on Oneal a few weeks ago, I saw about 6 kids under 8 with some "parents" watching the Last House on the Left.

I think they may be trying to cut out on all the people who bring their babies with them to see movies. I remember seeing 28 days years ago, and heard a child crying.....someone had brought their 3 year old

I saw my bloody valentine in 3d for a midnight show (dont ask y) and there were young children crying in there too.

This sounds like a solid idea, but I don't know how well the theory will translate to reality.
Muppet, is your girl 16?
This makes perfect business sense. Like others have already stated, they don't go because of all the kids that just hangout outside the theater. Therefore by allowing teens to hangout for free, Rave is losing actual paying customers.
The only other option I could think of would be for Rave to run an outside, under 17 club (a la Night at the Roxbury). A cover charge might make up for lost movie revenue; however, I don't think this would promote the movie atmosphere they are trying to achieve, as under 17 clubs have a pretty bad rep.

At the Warren Theatre up here in Moore, OK they have special rooms at the back of the theatre where a parent can go with a crying baby that are soundproofed so we can't hear their baby but the parent can still see the movie. They also have balcony seating (age 21 and over only) where you are served food and drinks, alcohol included, at the press of a button.

Yeah we went to see the National Championship game in 3D and our view was partially blocked during the preview/commercial part by the line of people to buy food and alcohol. The manager came up to us and apologized and gave us free tickets to see the Slam Dunk contest in 3D. It was really nice of him.
I'm happy with this new rule. We went to see Wolverine at 11pm Saturday and there were so many teenagers just hanging around outside before and even after the movie.

just wondering who pulls up and sees kids standing around and says, "Well, this isn't happening tonight." Is it the second hand smoke? Do they have guns? Are they going to mug anyone on the way to the ticket counter? I'm just asking.
If you see a hundred kids standing around outside, you can bet your arse there are a hundreds more inside and in the theaters. I've had many trips to the movies ruined by kids that just frick around during the whole movie.

I used to be a GM for Cinemark, and this policy will be a blessing for the staff and for the guests. It is obivious that the complaints of the kids are getting out of hand, and the corporation has decided to take action.
Teenagers are a hassle at the theatre, just be prepared, the parents are worse, they think their kids can do no wrong. I was threaten, screamed at, charged at, called sexist, racist, but I had a police officers to protect the guests and the staff. It is pretty funny watching a guy get arrested for being asked to be quiet and get off his cell phone.
I dont miss these headaches, but it is a good policy that will work, but it has to be consistent across the board. The first few weeks will be rough, but your guests will be happy.
People really just do not know how to act during movies these days, it is ashame. I worked in the business for five years and people were getting more and more disruptive in nature.
Most theatre chains have a no children after 6pm in a R rated film. It is amazing the parents with kids trying to take them into Saw, Hills Have Eyes, Halloween, etc.
Best of luck with the policy

I had just about sworn off going to the midnight premieres of the big blockbusters because we had been going to Citiplace. Our last trip included me screaming at kids who were shouting cusswords as they entered the theater, and calling the manager on my cell so that he could come in and enjoy the "stomp" that was being performed in the aisle during the trailers (I shite you not, an actual stomp).
I gave late movies a try at Rave and have been extremely satisfied (even with the lecture and movie preview given by the manager prior to the movie). You couldn't pay me to go back to Citiplace.

+1
I found Rave always did a pretty good job of clearing all the trash out from in front of its theaters. Citiplace was ridiculous, however.
This is an absolute great policy. People that actually have money will start going back to the movie theaters. Lets face it; teenagers are complete dickweeds. I can say that because I was a complete dickweed teenager.
