I like Rashida Jones, and definitely liked her as Anne Perkins in Parks n Rec.
But you're sleeping on Early 2000s Jenna Fischer. She was a dime in Walk Hard.

Karen was smart, ambitious, attractive and tested Jim while also being cool with him.
Pam has zero ambition at the time, was content being a receptionist, was engaged to (what the showrunners had to make Roy to justify the Pam flirting with Jim) ruffian. She’s attractive with nice knockers.
Not to be crude, but back in my youth most would have considered Pam a notch on the bedpost and Karen more long term relationship type. The dynamics change as the show goes on, but at that point in time early in the show, Karen is the catch, not Pam.

She was very exotic looking. Was her dad a GI?

I know you’re joking. She did go to college in the Philippines though.

"Pam" and her kid go to the same gymnastics spot as my girlfriend's daughter. I can guarantee that Jim would be with Quincy's daughter these days.

The book is always better than the movie... except for Fight Club.

And Jaws. And Forrest Gump.
That's about it though.

If you though she was cute then, you should have seen her a couple of years before that….rawr…rawr

It’s funny seeing where Jim ended up with the sports agency. It’s something Karen would have encouraged him to do far sooner than Pam. Karen wanted Jim to be the best version of himself. Of course when the sports agency actually became a thing, Jim had a family and new responsibilities.
I think Karen and Jim could have been a power couple.

I can't explain it, but both me and my wife much prefer Rashida's looks and character in Parks over The Office.

I'm not the biggest Office fan, but this is a rock solid take. I didn't know the Karen character super well - Rashida Jones is Ann Perkins to me, so I'll take your word. Pam isn't Helen of Troy or anything. But Jenna Fischer is plenty pretty enough to settle down with, for sure.
