Best Performances
1)What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Ever since Tropic Thunder that performance was ruined for me.

I think Gangs of New York is so much more entertaining than The Titanic. The Departed is a very close second though

It's not about entertaining, it's about best movie.

Titanic is the best movie he's been in. It is undeniable.

From a technical standpoint, it still is amazing. Truly, epic.

I'm a little surprised at the love for Shutter Island here.

Yep, it's at the bottom of the list for me

Really? Inception at 8 even with this prerequisite?

This isn't necessarily his best performances, but the movies as a whole. Cast, character chemistry, plot etc

It should easily top 5 on any list

This is really, really hard, and this list could change from minute to minute, but. . . Ranking the ones I've seen, based on overall quality of movie (not necessarily Leo's performance therein):

The Departed
Inception
Titanic
The Aviator
Blood Diamond
Gangs of New York
Django Unchained
Catch Me If You Can
Body of Lies
Shutter Island
The Wolf of Wall Street
The Quick and the Dead
J. Edgar

I know many will think Gangs and Wolf are too low, but I think both are a little overrated. Wolf, in particular.

That is entirely what it is about.

Its surprising to me that only one person has said Basketball Diaries. I know its a pretty depressing movie but damn he was amazing in it.

No it wasn't. I guess to you it was, but it should still be in your top 5 based on your own criteria, because plot wasn't the only thing to take into account. Unless you just hated every single thing about the movie.

I liked Inception but man it's boring on a rewatch IMO.

Django is his most entertaining movie.

Wolf of Wall Street becomes repetitive and boring.

I can see why someone would rank it last.

One person mentioned

The Basketball Diaries

I also tend to enjoy good acting as opposed to how good the movie is overall so I would list What's Eating Gilbert Grape at number 2.
