From what I've seen from previous posts:

1) Not that many people have seen the Aviator, otherwise it would have been listed a lot more, because it was great

2) A lot of people liked Shutter Island way more than I did

I'd say

The Departed
Catch Me if You Can
The Aviator
Blood Diamond
Gangs of New York

Wrong. Misinformed. Blasphemous. You suck as a person for saying that.

1. Inception
2. Departed
3. Catch Me If You Can
4. Gangs of New York
5. Gilbert Grape

DiCaprio is great.

Gangs is one of my alltime favorites. Although DD Lewis is really the star.

Look guys, the OP explicitly states BEST movie.

quote:

what are Dicaprio's best movies. This isn't necessarily his best performances, but the movies as a whole. Cast, character chemistry, plot etc.

Titanic is the BEST movie Dicaprio has ever been in. This is backed up by its popularity and awards.

You cannot say anything other than Titanic as number 1. The others can be debated, but Titanic has to be number 1.

I say The Departed is #1. Unequivocally, for me. Popularity and awards do not necessarily a good movie make, although The Departed won Best Picture as well.

I turned it off after watching the first half because I couldn't stand it anymore.

I think it can be debated.

Will agree. Michael Bay brings in money with every movie, but that doesn't make his movies any good.

Also, the best movie doesn't always rack up on awards.

I turned off WOWS about half-way through, when I realized I didn't care about any of the characters or what happened to them. I got sick of waiting for it to be a good movie.

Gilbert and Titanic are the only other Leo films I've seen, so:

1. Grape
2. Titanic
3. First half of WOWS

I've seen the entire thing - it is mainly a beautiful, special effects heavy snoozefest, with a very predictable plot, relatively wooden acting by the leads - the movie is only barely watchable because of Zane's (relatively) great turn as the villain, and a few of the other supporting roles, notably Bates' Molly Brown, Bernard Hill's Captain Smith, and Victor Garber's Thomas Andrews (among others).

But, Leo and Winslet were ~75% of the film and they were both terrible. Cameron's direction, outside of the CGI/special effects stuff was very inconsistent.

His focus on getting everything to look "just right" was at the expense of good storytelling, IMHO. Prior to Titanic, he had no misses with me. From Titanic forward, he's 0fer.
