1) The Wire
2) Game of Thrones
3) Boardwalk Empire

Band of Brothers is the greatest thing to ever be put on TV, but it is a mini series

I can't rank True Detective till I see the end, but it has potential to slide into the #2 slot, IMO. It will have to continue it's greatness for multiple seasons to topple The Wire.

The dude that writes True Detective, Nic Pizzolatto, has a novel out called "Galveston" that's excellent.

doesn't matter. it's absolutely perfect

I'm only thru 3 episodes of True Detective thus far, but I can say with absolute certainty that Lisa's tits (the court reporter) are perfect.

Yup. I just think he did a bad acting job. I always felt like i was watching an actor instead of getting into the character

1. Band of Brothers
2. The Sopranos
3. John Adams
4. True Detective
5. The Wire

I didn't care for 6 Feet Under, True Blood, Oz, or Big Love, but the episodes that I've seen were very well directed, with solid acting.....typical HBO fashion. I haven't seen Deadwood or Sex in the City.

True Detective will surpass Sopranos on my list provided the ending doesn't suck. The Sopranos ending pissed me off.

Entourage was amusing, as was Generation Kill. Both get honorable mention.

If True Detective has a shitty ending (which in all likelihood will not happen) it will be the biggest melt since 1/9/12.

That being said
1) True Detective
2) Life's Too Short ETA: I just scrolled and can't believe this hasn't at least gotten a mention
3) The Wire
4) Game of Thrones
5) Sopranos
