Question about MCU Spider Man
Posted on 6/7/18 at 7:55 am

What is the point of his having superpowers?
Tony's suit does everything for him. I mean his tech can stick to walls. have super strength, speed, and agility.
It always bugged me that, by making his suit an iron suit, you basically neutralize what makes him Spider Man

The suit enhanced what he already had

As i understand it, that's not a "MCU" creation, it was pulled from the comics and was called Iron Spider. I don't know anything about the comics so i could be wrong about that.

Yeah, that was from the Civil War story line in the comics, if memory serves. Though, I didn't read them

well in that case, you might as well eliminate all other super powered humans and have them wear suits designed by Tony Stark...
i mean, seriously

The suit just makes him Iron Spider Man which is awesome.
What’s the problem?

The suit doesn't have Spidey sense. Also, Peter Parker is a genius with a good heart. That has nothing to do with the suit. That's like saying Captain America is nothing without his shield. The hero isn't the gadget and tech. It's the man underneath. This was a plot point in CA: TFA. They chose the scrawny kid because of who he was on the inside. Remember the scene with the grenade?
This, on a side note, is the massive problem with the recent Superman iterations. The cgi powers and super human qualities are surface level fluff. What makes superman interesting is his struggle to be good. It's his internal struggle to be a superhero. The alien who learns compassion through humanity. The fact that he has these powers but he chooses to use them for good and to limit them within reason on earth. This was tht problem with Snyderman. He was an egotistical frick head with no moral compass which isn't interesting. In fact, it makes him classically villainous. If you go back and watch Man Of Steel but from the viewpoint that Superman and his dad (JarEl, not PA Kent, although the Kent's are certainly horrible as well) ) are the villains and Zod is in fact the hero, the movie is actually a great movie where the villain wins at the end and you feel legitimate pain for Zod and hatred for Superman.

Wrong. Being Spiderman is more than just the suit. That was a major plot point in the movie. As Tony told him: if you're nothing without the suit then you're nothing with it.
In the comics, Parker is a scientific and tech genius with quick healing, heightened reflexes, and Spidey sense. His webs and shite was all invented tech.

Tony doesn't give his suits to everyone, just a select few. Rhodey gets to keep the War Machine suit, and I imagine get it repaired. That's his long-time friend.
Tony Stark likes Peter Parker in these films, like a son. You see that in Civil War, Homecoming, and now Infinity War. He gives him the X-17 (or whatever it is) suit during IW, and it is quite clear by the mid-point of that film that Parker will be Stark's heir. Strange even asks if Parker is his ward, a clear Batman/Robin reference.
The end result of IW (spoilers obviously) addresses your concerns, over the immediate future.
Your concern also seems to point out what might happen in the longer term; it's being speculated that in order to reverse the results of IW, sacrifices must be made. We expect several current Avengers to bow out.
If/when Stark goes down, there won't be anymore new suits being made. And if Stark Industries and the private servers (and backups) are destroyed, that eliminates Friday (the replacement AI for Jarvis)... and the plans for the suits, the fusion reactor, the nano-tech, etc.
TLDR version- if you want 'classic' Spiderman, you're going to have to get rid of Iron Man, it seems.

I'm fuzzy on it too. I think we got the first Iron Spider suit at the end of The Other when Tony was trying to figure out if what came back was still Peter Parker. (And trying to crack the secrets of what Spider-Man can do.)
Then he donned it properly when he became Tony's goon and propaganda push for Civil War. Think he had it during the Back in Black storyline before it went all deal with the devil in OMD.
I think MCU is going to adopt the end consequences of Superior Spider-Man and have Parker Industries happen after Infinity War. With him truly being Stark's heir.

I think it’s his athleticism and ability to react that sets him apart. Sure, someone else could use the suit, but they’d be much slower and much less mobile than Spider Man

I am a Ditko Spider-Man purist and not a fan of adding gadgets and an AI to Peter's suit.

Spider-Man and Batman have feedback loops since they get put out into TV, cartoons, and Movies so often that sometimes ok or neat ideas outside the books come back and haunt us.
Like organic webbing and the black batsuit.
I do really miss the old artists that followed ditko's line of thought on Spider-Man. For me his best was late 80's early 90's.
A bit heavy in the black for shading but damn I loved this back when.
Eta: To clarify his best being Spider-Man.

I’m not really a fan of the super suit either. I like that Stark gave him a suit Bc it makes more sense than Peter actually manufacturing it himself but maybe it’s a little too much tech. Not a big deal though.

If I’m Hawkeye, I’m begging Tony for a suit everyday.

I was gonna start a thread about this, but figure I'll ask it here.
What makes Black Widow (I think that is Scarlett Johanssen's character) a superhero? Does she have any superpowers, or is she just a normal human assassin?
The reason I ask is because watching the movies, I can take Captain America or Thor getting pounded or taking huge falls and being okay. But not people like her. Because they have actual powers or are genetically enhanced, whereas she is a normal human being. Even watching her kick arse in "superhero ways" is a little distracting since she has no superpowers yet she throws people around like it's NBD to her, when she is a 115 pound woman.
I also sort of feel the same way about Anthony Mackie's character as well (and Hawkeye too).
Anyway, figured I'd ask people who know more about this shite than I do. Flame away if necessary, but honest answers are appreciated.

I can't remember if BW underwent enhancement in the Red Room training. But I wouldn't put it past the ruskies. Otherwise she's just a peak human. (Caps serum has power slid up the scale since he was created to go beyond peak).
Falcon and Hawkeye have mostly stuck to guns, gimmick arrows, and hand to hand taught by SHIELD and Capt America.
Other than a wing push I can't think of Mackie doing anything weirdly physical hit wise.
Renner of course is Steroid Bourne. He can do what he wants dammit.

I don't mind it. He had it for a reason in the movie, and I doubt he will keep it past the next movie. He's not going to be running around in the Iron Spider suit in the next Spiderman movie.

It's not just that though; it's also that he takes no damage from falls and that kinda thing as well.
And yeah, I realize I am overthinking a superhero movie. But it just stuck out to me a few times since I've watched several lately to prepare for A:IW (watched Black Panther, Civil War, and Age of Ultron).
