Question About Anakin v Obi Wan
Posted on 5/6/17 at 6:11 am

Was there anything that Anakin could have done once Obi Wan had the high ground? Or was the fight really over at that point?
Could this fight have been a lot easier if Obi Wan jumped on something higher at the beginning of their showdown?

LOL. It seemed like they alternated between who had the higher ground a lot in that fight. Seemed like Lucas just wanted to throw in another line of bad dialogue before calling it a day.

That's why obi wan just gave up in a new hope and let anakin kill him. Anakin had learned his lesson and secured the high ground for the rematch, and obi wan accepted he was beaten.

It never made any sense, there was a lot of non-molten lave land to work with. Anakin is a moron for opting to jump straight over Obi Wan.

I don't know if anything sums up the absolute stupidity of the prequels more than that scene.
Anakin should've been a badass who could hold his own.
Standing a slight foot higher shouldn't have mattered for the first time literally ever in the franchise.
Anakin could've just jumped next to him and kept fighting like every other fight up to that point when someone was higher
Obi-Wan decided to just leave him and slowly burn and be tortured to death? Why not finish him or atleast bring him to some sort of space jail or something
should I keep going

Why do we do what we do? Sometimes even the most brilliant among us make a blunder. Sometimes our blunders have consequences. Some are irreversible. Life has a way of teaching that lesson. Anakin learned. The hard way.

The myth busters proved that the high ground was irrelevant in a light saber fight.

Anakin could of used the force to raise the slab he was on to be higher then Obi wan. After that he could of been like bitch you will never have the high ground over me.

I always took it as it showing the fault in hubris. Anakin believed that even though he was at a disadvantage that he was still strong enough and great enough to make that jump.

It doesn't make sense. Jumping over someone's head is supposed to induce some kind of paralytic state in which you are unable to swing your light saber.
Oh, I guess that is something only the Sith are afflicted with.

This. Obi wan baited him into doing it because he knew anakin was arrogant and would try it, thus ending the fight. He also tells him dont try it, knowing anakin hates him and will do it to spite him. Obi wan knew he, himself wouldn't make the same mistake maul did.

It was a horrible end to that fight. Anakin didn't need to try and jump over him. I laugh every time I see that scene.

As bad as they got their point across, this is what they were after.

I watched this again last night and was so moved by how awful it was I was about to make *another thread on it. Just fricking awful.
I'd say it's a tie with:
"YOU'RE BREAKING MY HEART!!!!"
Just fricking awful. Almost like every single word.

Anakin learned his lesson. It's why in Return of the Jedi when Luke jumped up on that platform, Vader just slung his lightsaber at him...."not falling for that shite again."

To completely nerd out here, it's against the jedi code to kill anyone unarmed (literally in this case).

Just like in AOTC when Anakin rushed in vs Dooku he was arrogant of his power.
