Loki gives the tesseract to Thanos to be spared when Thanos attacks Thor’s ship. Thor, Hulk, and co take on the the Black order while their ship tries to flee. The fight goes bad and Thor is left dangling in space until discovered by the guardians. The collector’s place is raided and attacked by the black order. The guardians fail to stop them and the reality gem is brought to Thanos. Thanos is missing the last and important gem, the soul gem. All the avengers assemble to protect it, which is inside Heimdall.

As someone in the comments section said, this reads more like a plot description than a trailer description. If this turns out to be true I think it's pretty interesting. The soul gem in Heimdall? Well, if true, looks like Heimdall's getting a bigger role. I don't have a problem with that though. I'd really like to see Elba fully bring this character to life

This movie has been described as a heist movie and that Thanos is the main character. I'm guessing he just goes around collecting the stones and then beats the Avengers at the end and we see the Avengers regroup and then finally beat him at the end of the next movie. I'm definitely expecting a "bad" ending to the first one at least.

I don't know if I should hope for this, as there a other films between the two Avengers films and not sure how they would play out, but I really hope Thanos is able to take over the Earth at the end of Infinity War. There's a lot of Comic Book films where the bad guy comes close to achieving their plan of taking over the earth or destroying it. But the villain is ALWAYS thwarted by the end. I can't think of a single one where the bad guy takes over. I would love to see the second film start out showing a period of people being under the rule of Thanos on Earth. There's so many stories in the comics that venture into this territory (Age of Ultron is one example).

This film has a lot that it really needs to do. It needs to have Thanos break the cycle of MCU sub-par MCU villains. And it needs to show that the MCU does have stakes, where major characters will finally be killed, and everlasting consequences will take place.

Maybe in the next one, but all the actors are back filming the second one right now.

As long as Strange has the time stone they can kill off whoever they want and Strange can bring them back.

Stark dies at the end of IW, Cap arrives to lead the team, Cap stops Thanos, but ends up back in the 1940s with Peggy Carter.

Thanos gets them all eventually, that's what brings in the reality warping.

A lot of stuff will be decoy on filming we've seen this happen already.

Captain Marvel will be in the 90s so we may see the cancer storyline as origin.

AntMan and the Wasp is between Civil War and Infinity War.

So the in-betweeners arent affected by Avengers 4 but may offer explanations.

I thought Thanos' deal was that he wants to kill a ton of people (like I think 1/2 of all sentient beings or something like that) to flirt with a godlike chick named Mistress Death that he has the hots for?

There has been a few storylines like that in comics over the years.

In the first Supervillian Team-up (I think that's where it was), Dr. Doom succeeded in taking over the world by releasing some sort of mind controlling gas and nobody really even knew what had happened. He got bored and released Magneto to challenge him. Magneto then freed Beast and etc. etc.

There was one storyline from a company (don't remember who it was but not one of the big two) where a character who was actually a lot like Doom succeeded in taking over the world and the series was about all the tedious things that kept him occupied as leader.

And, of course Kang has conquered tons of words and planets, including earth at some periods in time.

I'm not a big DC fan but I think Darkseid might have been pretty successful in ruling his world or worlds.

While this would be cool, I don't think it is possible with the extended MCU. You'd have this two-year period where the Netflix shows and Agents of Shield (if not cancelled) would have to adjust their plots.

You really think Disney is going to sacrifice merchandise sales for plot lines? Psssh. Disney would stamp all our asses at birth if it could. They're a monster.

That's funny, cause you've been living in Dallas for the past few years.

No, he has the hots for literal Death. In the comics, or more notably in Jim Starlin's screwed up head, Death and all the other forces of nature have physical manifestations. Thanos is in love with her, so he kills half of the universe. She is still playing hard to get.

Nuh uh. But I will admit it's better than spending every waking minute playing destiny.
