To be honest, it almost feels like Gilligan has a big development/reveal planned for the end of Season 1 and is stretching things out to fill episodes

I think the big reveal at the end of the season will be that Carol and perhaps some collaborators will figure out how to reverse the virus. They've been hinting at this every episode.

The show can't revolve around a single bitch interacting with an endless army of Mormon robots. That's interesting at first but we eventually need more character development and plot devices. They're going to have to convert some members of the hive back to their side.

The chatter for this show has certainly dwindled since the initial 2 episodes dropped.

I’ll stick with it partly because there’s not much else on. It’s got a Silo vibe to it, but with less everything else and fewer characters

It's clear the guy from Paraguay or whatever has found the frequency in which they communicate. No idea how they decode it. Guessing the Vegas guy does something there

That's where we are in a nice nutshell. While the hive pulling back from Carol and her antics was an interesting turn, it can't last long because "Carol is being bitchy" just isn't enough to carry a series by itself. The most recent episode picked up a little when they brought back Diabaté (that guy is truly living his best life) and the answers he's gleaned by simply not being a 24/7 a-hole.

The guy from Paraguay (Manousos) will likely spice things up a bit for the remaining episodes. He left 3 days before Carol left Vegas and it would take 3-5 days to drive from Paraquay to Albuquerque (in this world of no borders, no traffic and no speed laws - at least according to AI).

im suspicious of all survivors except Carol and Paraguay. I think they are like half way infected or something. their responses to the initial news was just not very logical at all and diabetes like the Hive people a little to much. his last phone call with his loves was enough to make me a little suspicious. something is going on there. In my mind there are only 2 real survivors something is up.

can you imagine driving from South America to the US without fear of cartel gangs, corrupt police and no border crossings or traffic?

If i were Carol id take advantage of this situation to explore Canada, the US and Central and South America.

A lot of talk about whether or not banging all of these chicks is rape or not (which is a reasonable ethical question). Not enough talk about your gamgam's consciousness being in that gorgeous 25 year old blonde.

Curious to see how Carol and Manousos communicate. I doubt that either will trust using translation software that the hive could be spying on (though Carol could just leave a message with Hamlin and ask if they're spying, Manousos may not be OK with it). Even if they wanted to use a translator, the hive is still avoiding Carol. They're probably going to have to do it the oldschool way with books, but that doesn't make for good TV (though if anyone can think of a good way to do it, Gilligan is the man).

I've convinced myself the alien virus is prepping the planet for invasion/colonization. At some point in the future the invaders can show up to an Earth that's all cleaned up and as unspoiled as possible, with the surviving intelligent species now nothing but super-intelligent pacifist servants unable to lie, disobey, or defend themselves.

If you saw 3 Body Problem you’d be reminded that it takes hundreds if not thousands of years of travel through space for aliens to get here physically.

The world is effectively already conquered, so if anyone shows up next week or next millennium, they’ve already got in an established colony .

I would have Disneyworld, Universal studios and Kings Island all running just for me like Cartmanland.
No crowds. Then i would go on a world tour in my private Concorde I get pulled out of retirement.

exactly.

its still rape because those women didn't agree to be taken over by an alien hive brain. and yes, your wife, your grandmother, your CHILDREN would all be sharing that concsciousness while you're having sex with the playboy bunny.

i'm not sure how he is ok with that in any way.

sure carol is an angry lesbian but damn, she's right to be fricking mad. she is going to have to get it under control however if she wants to be part of a constructive solution.

she's still jumping the gun way too much like telegraphing to the hive what her plans are.

mexican radio man is much more cautious and he's not going to put up with her Leroy Jenkins routine for long.

i do'nt see that partnership lasting for long, although he will definitely be taking advantage of the fact all the hive has cleared out around carol.

Didn’t he seem to understand her video or was it translated or subtitled?

I had CC/subtitles on, and they might have covered up seeing that the video had them for Manousos.

Him telling the middle-aged maid to jump into the orgy was a step further into depravity. That's someone's mom's body. Maybe those are all former prostitutes he's sleeping with. Not sure how they'd rationalize the maid. It's just a fricked-up area that they introduced with the King of Vegas.

The video was shown out of focus when he was watching, but it looked like the hive did subtitle it for him. It's also possible that he picked up on random words. He knows based on both the video and their phone call (when she called him a bitch) that she's still normal. And he may have just known the word "twelve" and put together context clues that there are still 12 normies left. But I'm leaning towards subtitled.

I don't think that she's going to keep Leroying now that she knows that they won't be able to convert her without her permission. And her idea with drugging Pirate Lady was rushed, but pretty clever. But it looks like Manousos's mom is the only one left in his town, so if he returns and tries the same drugging process with her, it will probably take a lot longer for the hive to show up and put an end to things.

It's fricked up to us because he has many much more attractive options available. Morally, I don't really see the difference.

There's a VERY dark direction that the show could go on this topic, but I don't think that they will (and hope that they don't). Gilligan probably intended for these kind of moral questions to occur to viewers, but they're not necessarily the focus of the show. But significant moral disagreements between the remaining normies could lead to some interesting situations. What does the hive do if the normies attempt to kill each other?

That was a turning point for me. I was super critical of French dude thinking I would be Carol, but then I saw her and realized I would fall into temptation pretty quickly.

The version of the latest episode that I saw with the guy in Paraguay speaking Spanish to the woman in the street....my version didn't have any subtitles for the spoken in Spanish language. Did anyone else's version have subtitles to know exactly what they said?

Someone else had the sub problem. But the woman was Manny's mom, asking if he needed help. He said "You're not my mom. My mom was a bitch."
