Interesting

A Christmas Story sequel

quote:

The two companies are gearing up to make a sequel to the yuletide holiday classic, A Christmas Story, closing a deal for Peter Billingsley, the child star of the original 1983 movie, to topline and produce.
Titled A Christmas Story Christmas, the feature intended for HBO Max will be directed by Clay Kaytis, who already tackled the snowy holiday season with The Christmas Chronicles for Netflix and has a script by Nick Schenk, the writer behind recent Clint Eastwood movies such as Gran Torino and The Mule, sitting under the leg lamp.

I've avoided the sequels with different actors. They don't exist in my mind. Same as Caddyshack 2, or any of the Jaws sequels.

My question is ' Who asked for this?'.

I refuse to watch that 2nd one. With Billingsley being involved in the upcoming film, it could be a decent Christmas movie. And on HBO Max, so I’ll watch.

Ralphie uses his devastating red ryder to tackle social justice and climate issues.

Ralphie Jr. Is a closet 9 year old MTF transgender who wants a dollhouse for Christmas but is too afraid to come out.

They will put some kind of SJW bs in this

No thanks. Much of what sold that movie was the narration by Jean Shepherd who wrote the book the movie was based on..."In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash." Without that, it loses a TON.

The film came out 43 years after the story took place. Christmas will be 39 years since the movie came out.

That means this sequel should take place around the time that the original movie hit the theaters. Billingsley is now the age that the narrator supposedly was in that film.

Weird.

The only real voice of an adult Ralphie is Jean Shepherd.

Which more or less makes it exactly 8 Bit Christmas, as both A Christmas Story and the NES came out in 1983.
