I quit watching it in the second season because I hated her and Pete. They were not fun people. The nostalgia effect of watching the old guys womanize, and drink, at work, had already worn off for me in season two. I was not interested in a future filled with Peggy and Pete.
Spoiler alert!
You missed Pete get punched in the face, I didn't like pete either, but I felt that was the sign of good writing and good acting. If the character doesn't make you feel anything, then whats the point.

the show was about Peggy,
That was why I quit watching. I wasn't interested in her, or Pete. At the point that I stopped watching it, it felt like the two of them were going to be more important to the show, as it advanced.
I was alive during the period the show was being portrayed in. I have little snippets of memories from going into people's offices, and homes, from the period. That's what fascinated me about the show from the beginning.
I worked in advertising for 28 years. I could have worked with either of them. I would have wanted to have Peggy on my team, because she would handle her share of what needed to be done, but that doesn't mean I want to spend an hour every week with her head.
She's too much like my mother. Would you want to spend an hour, every week, in your mom's head.

Pete was by far the worst.
Just finished watching it for the first time a few weeks ago.
The only thing about Pete that I thought was good was in one of the last episodes when he said something along the lines of "I wouldn't know. No one ever said that to me," after he told Peggy that people would be proud to say that they worked with her.
Every other time, I felt like his acting was terrible.

i always thought the worst was the young bearded guy from the early seasons that was always trying to act more sophisticated than everyone, then he got left out of the merger with the british company. he came back a few seasons later as a follower of hare krishna.

Paul's role was the traditional white guy writer who Peggy ends up dick-slapping with her superior abilities.. he played his role well

Don fingering her into submission in the bathroom was his ultimate Alpha move of the entire show.

I read that all 3 female leads (January Jones, Christina Hendricks, and Elizabeth Moss) read for the Peggy Olsen part. All three actresses saw Peggy's arc as one of the focal points of the series.

You know what’s worse than a bad take? The gay twitter trend of saying “this is a bad take”

I felt this way the first time I watched it
The second time I watched it Pete became my favorite character outside of don and sterling.

I loved Peggy. Pete, OTOH, oy.

They tried to pass Peggy off as this attractive piece of arse.

Peggy had her annoying moments, but not nearly as annoying as any of the family/friends in her side plots.

Peggy is hardly the worst character.
She is maybe not a good person.
But Peggy and Pete were great TV drama.
This is a top 3 scene for me in Mad Men history along with the Wheel and Pete in Signal 30.
I'm not perfect Pete
And she wasn't, which made her a great character alongside Don as his protege...they both had enormous flaws...mostly just thinking about themselves.

Mad Men was about flawed characters all-around.
Peggy was one of the best characters on the show because of that.
Roger was a great humorous side act.
But Don, Peggy and Pete merry-go-round was what made the show.

Peggy was an awesome character, and Elizabeth Moss kicked arse in the role.
There really weren't any bad parts of that show. You're an idiot.

Peggy is just so unattractive. I can't stand watching her scenes sometimes and its annoying they always try to pass her off as "cute young girl in the city".
My wife watches handmaidens tale and I just can't watch another series with her in it.

They never tried to pass her off as cute young girl in the city.
Joan tells her she's basically ugly and unattractive and needs to dress better to attract men.
Don basically makes her one of the guys as the office maybe thought she was a lesbian.
She never has any decent boyfriend throughout the show.
And at the very end, the big scruffy dude is the one that falls for her.
Only Pete, who was mentally messed up early on falls for her.
She was portrayed as the dowdy career gal (code for can't get married.)
She even tries to put the moves on Don early on after her talk with Joan and Don (Mister I'll bang anything) is like what, get the frick off me. You're my Secretary.
And then he proceeds to bang his next Secretary.
