Ozark's Charlotte Byrde (SPOILERS)

Anyone else wished Charlotte stayed under the water when she went for a late night swim in the lake? I can't recall a more unlikable, sniveling, annoying, over acting character anywhere in a long time. It's like she was written into the script as an afterthought right before filming began; hey let's add a teenage daughter to the Bryde clan, hire the first one on the list and be done with it. Only saving grace is that she does look good in cut off jeans, so maybe they'll show more of that.

I just finished season 1. It was solid. I didn't mind her character at all. She's a teenager, and that's how a lot of teens act.

If you liked season one, good news because the series gets better and better...last half of season three the show had matured and came to a climax in fine fashion. Charlotte did get better for me anyway by end of season three; I just thought she was in over head as actress especially with the seasoned adult actors.

Charlotte is a lot like Skyler White. While you are watching the show, you hate her because she is messing things up for the protagonist even while being a loved one. Once you finish the show, though, you realize they may have been the most real character on the show.
Yeah, it sucks that she messed something up for Marty by being an angsty teen, but that's what teenagers do.

Everyone always talks like nothing is realistic. Well, for me, if my parents uprooted me to another state in the sticks, then came out and said they worked for the Cartel, I'd act like a little shite as well.

Nice spoiler title. I was thinking of starting this show but now it is ruined.

Sorry bout that, but I promise that one little scene is a wash compared to the full series; you'll enjoy I promise. Now if someone tells you how season three ends, then THAT would be a mother of a spoiler. I won't go there and best to avoid anymore posts on the series.

Maybe it's her rocking body?
Her character is prominent enough to be annoying, but not prominent enough to ruin the show.

Have you seen teenage girls in real life?

is going to be in trouble in season 4. She is turning 18 and the Feds are going to squeeze her hard to rat out her parents or they are going to threaten to put her in the slammer.

Should we apply that logic to Debbie Gallagher? Because she's a notoriously hated teenager.

I gave her a little slack for the same reasons as someone else stated; she's a teenage girl. They are the worst people on the planet.
This was the most distracting thing about her for me:

Kids make a show worse 90% of the time
They just get in the way
Sopranos a prime example

They are the worst kid characters on TV. Over the top stereotypes applied to both. And over the top parents that allow it. It ruins the show.

She was unbearable in Season 2 but got less annoying in Season 3 I thought. The writers seemed to have her grow up a little as it went on.

I follow this show on a Reddit thread. There is an Ozark camera crew member who comments there. This year they changed the look of the show by using different cameras and equipment and time of year expressly because fans complained about how (literally) dark some of the scenes were. The producers of that show knew fans despised Charlotte. I think they redeemed he in S3r. But by the time S3 roll around, poof, Charlotte no longer wanted to hang out with Wyatt. That shows writing can be all over the place.

Some of the stuff that happened was so outlandish (and in many cases simply impossible), but it was still very entertaining if you suspended your disbelief effectively.

They did it for survival until they did it for a job. I think they believe making money that way is fun and a legitimate way to earn a dime. I'll happily watch the rest of the show but it is very over the top. They run from one catastrophe to another.
