None of them were smart enough to do it. She got over on everyone. Also, you don't accomplish what she accomplished without screwing people over. Our corporations are filled with people like Wendy. Most of the people she fricked over either didn't realize they were being fricked over or they did realize it and allowed themselves to be drawn back in by her.
Male fans of the show don't like her because she emasculated her husband. She cucked him. But give Wendy a cock and balls and call her Wendell and we're probably having a different discussion. We're probably talking about what a badass motherfricker he is.
She embodied everything you would want to see in a high functioning sociopath and a savvy gangster.
Frickin' bitch was ruthless and she had vision and balls her husband lacked.
Gtfo with this sexist bullshite. Sure, it’s annoying she emasculated Marty, but Marty also has the conducive personality. It’s because people LIKE Marty and that bitch constantly overreached and fricked up their situation. She is to blame for the ills of the family for the last two seasons. She wrecked her family, drove her kids away, had her brother killed, and had she not been a stupid twat she wouldn’t have carried on with Camilla which ruined the plan to have Navarro killed and Marty take over the cartel and resulted in Ruth being murdered. Had she shut her trap and they not helped Camilla visit Navarro she wouldn’t have taken over the cartel and had Ruth killed. Not exactly savvy.

ruth's death just showed that her reckless behavior eventually caught up to her. her shooting javi was ultimately going to come back and bite her
Then why the whole redemption thing of cleaning her record to be legit for the casino?
Killing Javi was a fricking boss move and avenged the person she loved the most in the world. If Clare wasn't scared shitless of Camilla's man looking arse, then no one would have ever known it was Ruth. Ever.
Also, if reckless=death, then 80% of the cast is dead in OK Corral type ending.

there was so much foreshadowing from marty leading up to her getting killed. she had chances to walk away with all of the money but eventually the cartel was going to come to collect for her murder of javi. now i'm wondering what happens with the byrds and if they are going to have to stay in ozarks to launder money for the cartel/FBI to keep it going. I can't see them breaking free of the casino now that ruth is dead.

Ozark started off great
It was never great. It came out guns blazing crazy as hell and fast paced. Show always had serious problems.
Can’t fricking believe they just get a happy ending. Especially Wendy, psychotic evil bitch, and Jonah, who turned on his family.
The Ruth storyline was one of the dumbest, most unrealistic things I’ve ever seen on tv or movies. The fact she made it that far was fricking ridiculous. The actress isn’t very good.
And of course they have her go out a badass. You would think this white trash backwoods hillbilly 90 pound child who walks with a limp was fricking Rambo or some shite.
This show was overrated as hell, and the final season and ending officially put it in the not a good series category for me.
Oh, and the level of coward arse bitch they made Marty was insane. The guy couldn’t even look any of these women in the eyes every time he got the verbal smack down from every single woman on this show.
That’s another thing. At some point this show shifted direction to “woman power” and it fricking ruined any potential this show had.

Wanted to add I fricking hate when writers don’t know how to end a show so they cop out and pull shite like this and say the fans can imagine any ending and future for these people that they want. Well, it ain’t my fricking job to write their ending for them.

Wife and I finished it last night. I agree with all the criticisms, but I still loved it

First two episodes were really bad,
I honestly thought about stopping during the first half hour of episode 8 right around the time Ruth ran into Killer Mike. It was so fricking bad. Decided I had come this far might as well finish it.

In the first season the cartel was represented by Del and that guy was scary. He's replaced by navarro who just seems like a potbellied hispanic guy you'd see at a neighborhood bbq.
This is a very fair point. Del was awesome. Javi was good too. But Navarro was a very dull character.

Just finished the season and it was pretty solid
Those of you complaining about the ending are babies. “Errrmygawd they got a happy ending!!!”
Of course they got a happy ending. Did y’all not pay attention the entire series?

Did you? I was watching a show with a family digging themselves deeper and deeper in shite, family members not even trusting each other. Then I watched them end with “women rule the world” and “rich powerful people can do anything and get away with everything”.
Having Marty smile at his son shooting an innocent man in no way fits with that character. That final shot turns the whole family into Wendy completely out of nowhere.
Don’t act like the show was building to any of this. Hell, having Marty, Charlotte, and Jonah, murder Wendy to go on with their lives would have made a hell of a lot more sense if you follow the storytelling of the show.

This man is correct.

I agree with what your saying, but it all came down to money. Wendy and Marty were going to get away with it as long as the money came through. Wendy had one of her best lines in that last scene. "the world doesn't work like that anymore". Wendy - "Since when".

I hated the ending
Wendy shouldn't have made it out of the series alive.

I would watch a Columbo style prequel about Mel. New case each episode. No continuing storyline.

The whole wreck thing didn't make sense. You start off the season with it.....and it ends up being a total nothing to the plot line & everything. Hell, they all took a cab home after flipping 4 times. lol
Posted on 5/15/22 at 3:58 pm to sosaysmorvant
Actually, I took the wreck, as written, to signify two very important things: 1. they are untouchable as was said up thread. 2. The writers wrote it as a trauma point that brought the kids and parents together.
The writers really wanted the wreck to be the turning point where they were all on the same page and all in all of a sudden.
I don't agree with the writers, but that is what they were aiming at IMO.

Spot on. All Marty wanted to do was get through it all so things could go back to normal, he even had the conversation at the pool about getting through it and everybody leaving Wendy at the end. She was the one who wanted to be Hillary Clinton but all of a sudden at the end Marty turns into a psychopath who is proud that his young son is a out to blow somebody's head off and become a murderer. Just horseshite writing

After taking a few days to sleep on it I don’t think my issue is as much with the ending as it is the bullshite way they got there. It was just incredibly lazy writing. As the seasons went on it became obvious they had no vision of the ending and that became confirmed with the haphazard way the last few episodes were laid out.

Then at the very end we get his sister who is even less scary. Shouldn't we be fearful of these cahracters? Also something tells me that if omar was in prison as a 100% direct result of the byrdes putting them there, they wouldn't still be living
I thought Navarro was a pretty scary dude, but once he went behind bars he lost his luster. I really enjoyed the first 7 episodes, but the last 7 while not meh, could have been better.
I just felt like there was a lot of "you have to get this done," then unknown period of time passes on show and "you didn't get it done? Why not? You have 10 days" then unknown period of time passed again (seemingly much more than 10 days) and it repeated itself.
Kind of felt like the main characters didn't really have any stakes.

What ever happened to the baby? The girl drops him off to ruth at her trailer and that's the last I remember seeing him. Isn't he the heir of Darlene, etc.?
No. He was never adopted, only fostered by Darlene.
Darlene killed Zeke's (the baby) mother.
Zeke dad was killed when Marty accidentally shot him.
