The only redeeming aspect to how this show ended is that Wendy won.
She was a stone cold political gangster, who deftly manipulated everyone around her to achieve her goals. She had a vision and unlike her cuckly, aspergery husband, she wasn't going to be deterred from it.
This final season, for all it's faults at least had a conclusion that made some sense. Wendy winning bigly and Ruth not winning anything at all.
Albeit poorly executed, the ending made sense. Wendy came out on top.

That's the thing though, Wendy wasn't nearly as clever, and gangster as the show tries to make her out to be. A conclusion that would have actually made sense would be one of the several people that she crossed capping her arse.

Exactly. Let's see...we have the cartel (multiple heads of it at that), the langmores, darlene, the mob, and the head of a pharmaceutical giant with 24/7 armed personal security, all that she has fricked over in some capacity at some point in time. In addition to all the people that she's simply been a straight up bitch to. There is no way she'd still be alive.

Not to mention almost all of her political moves were hinged on favors from people (Jim Rattelsdorf, Charles Wilkes) that would have never fricked with her, or at least would've cut bait pretty fast when they realized what they were dealing with.

None of them were smart enough to do it. She got over on everyone. Also, you don't accomplish what she accomplished without screwing people over. Our corporations are filled with people like Wendy. Most of the people she fricked over either didn't realize they were being fricked over or they did realize it and allowed themselves to be drawn back in by her.
Male fans of the show don't like her because she emasculated her husband. She cucked him. But give Wendy a cock and balls and call her Wendell and we're probably having a different discussion. We're probably talking about what a badass motherfricker he is.
She embodied everything you would want to see in a high functioning sociopath and a savvy gangster.
frickin' bitch was ruthless and she had vision and balls her husband lacked.

Well that's what everyone says when they realize they're being duped by a gangster and con artist but once that happens, it's too late.
She's a Chicago politician gangster and con artist and a gifted salesman who knows how to exploit the vulnerabilities of others.
She was far and away the best character on the show. She was the engine that drove it.

Plenty of them seemed more than capable of seeing through Wendy's thinly veiled bullshite.

How do we know that Jonah didn't shoot Wendy at the end? All we heard was the shot then fade to black.

It would have been better if Three had been on the trailer roof and taken her out with a rifle . . . Stepped down and walked past Ruth and said “You’re the one that doesn’t know how to act rich.”
That would have been great actually. There were so many things they could have done differently to make it more exciting and they just chose not to.
Maybe at the end instead of Marty smirking when Jonah was about to shoot he had an oh shite look on his face, then it cut to black, so we actually had reason to wonder who Jonah actually shot

That would've been a fitting end to her, had we been allowed to see it. But since we didn't and the only person with his hands in the air was the PI, then the reasonable assumption is that Jonah finally manned up and protected his family.
I would've been fine with Wendy getting killed but for me, it had to come from a place that made sense.
Ruth didn't make sense, Darlene Snell didn't make sense, Charlotte didn't make sense and a host of others didn't make sense. Wendy stayed a step ahead of everyone, including Navarro. In fact, Navarro was her greatest victim. He knew exactly what she was yet she still had him wrapped around her finger.
Jonah would've been a good choice and Marty as well only if he had worked out a secret deal with Navarro, which for a minute I thought he did when it looked like Navarro might escape.

I saw a random article yesterday with one of the writers saying he shot the PI. He was really proud of himself and the "arc" they wrote for Jonah

Do you even Hillary Clinton, bro?

That may be part of it, but smug, fake arse way she dealt with people combined with making idiotic decisions that put all their lives in danger multiple times is the main (2) parts.

She didn’t. She was completely exposed as an idiot as Marty had to bail her out yet again. She was limp and pathetic as she finally realized how wrong she had been. And her “victory” as you say was her smirking as her teenage son shotgun-blasted a man in cold blood. The biggest fail a parent could imagine - having to get bailed out by your child committing murder. You must be a hood rat.

Ozark was awesome when you had the byrdes in town trying to launder money for the cartel and a cast of smart but hillbilly locals getting in their way like the langmores and the snells. That was tense TV drama. But then you introduce more cartel people, the KC mob, a PI, a pharmaceutical company executive, jonah byrd working for a competing operation, a casino boat, the FBI, Wendy entering politics in a way that I still don't even really understand, etc...it's just too damn much. There were far too many storylines going on at one and all seemed ot be resolved just as quickly as they crop up.
Freaking this.

I didn't care for the ending - like GOT or whatever, it seems the writers just refuse to give the audience what they really want.
Ruth dying was bullshite. No one could have found out that Clare actually knew who shot Javi. Clare should have shut her whore mouth.
Ruth should have been a Kingpin type running shite in Missouri, showing her with her finished house sitting on her big arse deck and drinking a beer.
***A few random funny things I enjoyed are how I laughed every time Ruth walked away - especially fast. She had the most awkward stiff legged walk ever.
***The other..."What the frick...." is how she started basically every conversation.

disagree. ruth's death just showed that her reckless behavior eventually caught up to her. her shooting javi was ultimately going to come back and bite her and she was ok with the consequences.

WTF WAS THE POINT OF THE CAR CRASH
this I agree with. ultimately this could have been the shows ending tbh and left it on a cliffhanger. the byrds managing to escape the ozarks on the way back to chicago and a car crash is what does them in. it might have been a cheap ending though.

Metaphorical. It was to show that the Byrdes were untouchable. A car crash that should’ve killed everybody in the vehicle…yet nobody even gets a scratch. It was the writers’ way of foreshadowing that nothing, not even dumb fate, was going to bring this family down.
