Just finished it. Great show. I can't wait for the second season. They set it up perfect.

I just finished and liked it too. My two biggest irritants were the Pogues and Kooks thing (that's so 1950's) and the fact that they cast a 27 yr old actor to play a 16 yr old kid. Are there no talented 18 yr olds to keep it more believable while still circumventing child labor laws?

Apparently there two threads about the same show. Here’s my post from the other thread:
Born and raised in South Carolina (filmed in Charleston area) and have lived in North Carolina for 10 years. Watching it now. Can’t stand the fact that haven’t I heard a single southern accent. Might as well be watching a Great Lakes based show. Not really capturing the culture. Now flip it on a Danny McBride produced show and you got it.

I loved it. Binged it faster than any show in awhile. Sarah was a smokeshow but I had a major thing for Kie

For those asking about the setting, they were apparently originally supposed to film in NC but moved the set to SC because of the same bathroom bill the NCAA pulled events over.

For the first few episodes I thought the actress playing Kie was Zendaya from the Spider-Man movies.

I thought the show was solid but, as other people have pointed out, where are the southern accents? Also...I feel like this is the kind of story that should have been resolved in one season. I really couldn't care less about the sub-plots revolving around Topper and Rafe as both characters are way too over the top for my liking.

Still...7.5/10. Would recommend.

Want to check it out, but I did hear of a part where the kids take a ferry boat into Chapel Hill, NC. Can anyone confirm this? That’s quite a geographical error.

no, not close.

It's a shitty story with shitty acting. I still watched it but come on.

Yes, but if plot holes like that are a problem then this show isn’t for you. It’s your classic teen drama that’s meant for entertainment, not realistic life. Think One Tree Hill meets National Treasure

I didn’t even realize how far inland Chapel Hill is until you’re post though, that’s hilarious. I’m pretty sure I saw the director is from Wilmington, so it’s not like they didn’t know. I think they just expect the viewer to suspend belief for awhile. If you do that, it’s fun.

Thought it was very enjoyable. Couldn’t turn off the first 5 or so episodes, then it bogged down some, but ended well. Need to suspend disbelief a good bit, and a little corny, but a great fun watch.

As a former eastern North Carolina resident, that irritated me too but I read an interview from the director somewhere that there was an editing error. They cut out the Uber ride from the inlet to Chapel Hill without realizing that it might infer that Chapel Hill was near the coast. You can tell that there was some time in between when the ferry dropped them off and when they arrived at UNC because of how dark it had gotten.

They arrived at the archive building in a black luxury car after going clothes shopping. It definitely inferred that they took the ferry/tugboat straight to chapel hill, but it at least left open the possibility of that not being the case.

I had a bigger issue with it clearly being night when they arrived at archive building and it was still open. And it’s obviously summer time, so dark outside means after 8pm

As was mentioned though, if little things like that are really bothersome then the show isn’t for you

Yeah...shows like this must force you to suspend disbelief. A lot of the shite these characters do on the show would get them arrested and charged with felonies in real life.

You don't hear southern accents in Charleston anymore because it is full of people from Ohio, New York, and Connecticut.

The "pogues" "kooks" and "the cut" thing is unbearable.

Show would be 100% better if they didn't beat you over the head with those two terms.

We get it, there is social disparity in obx. As there is in most places in the world. No need to inject the terms "pogues" and "kooks" into every other sentence in the script.

I think most young kids are losing strong accents. But the Pogues are lower class so they should have a thick accent.

Watched a Cast interview of John B and Sarah. Five cast members are quarantined together. I suspect this isn’t because they are lovers. I think it was to run through the gamut of interviews to promote the show. They did a great job in promotion. They were happy to have a season 2.

They got off the ferry and went shopping almost immediately I thought. They arrived at the library in Chapel Hill hours later when it was dark in an Uber so it made sense to me but they didn’t explain it well. Then they got back the next day to their town right?

Most people don’t know what the actual town is supposed to look like so who cares. Most films aren’t really filmed in the town they pretend to be in.

I thought the show was solid. Wish the kids would have been portrayed as being a little older. Every party they have shows 16 year olds drinking and doing drugs with adults around as if it’s just the most normal thing ever. The kids don’t look or act that young so they should have just made them a little older and dumped the whole child services storyline.
