I think after the season people will understand that the first 2 episodes are background info. I thought I read episode 3 is when things change which is why they released the first 2 episodes together

It was also a Strucker brand watch.

Strucker was the hydra boss who kept captive and experimented on wanda and her brother

First commercial references the stark bomb that kills her family. Strucker recruited them to Hydra I think. So I’m sure we’ll see something referencing her brother’s death.

reviews on IMDb are hilarious. People are upset that it is too much of a sitcom and like bewitched.

The helicopter with the S.W.O.R.D. logo crashed into the bushes right before Monica Rambeau showed up at the wives meeting, not knowing who she was or why she was there, and not seeming to know her real name. S.W.O.R.D. seems to be trying to get in there to help, and I guess Monica got stuck and is now assimilated into that false reality? I wonder how many of the other people in the town are people who got sucked in trying to help Wanda and got stuck there.

Yeah anyone who’s confused by this show really didn’t research it much before watching. It’s been apparent through all the promotional material that it would adapt a 50s sitcom at least to some degree whether through wandas powers or through some sort of mental imprisonment if you use a little deduction about her character.

I was watching the second episode and couldn’t figure out how Dottie looked familiar to me. All I kept thinking was... I seem to remember thinking this person was hot, long ago...

It’s Anya from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Emma Caulfield.

I felt like a dummy that I didn’t recognize her.

You shouldn’t have to research a new show to enjoy it. After the first episode my wife asked if the entire series was like this (a lame sitcom parody). In contrast, The Mandalorian had the task of drawing in a broad audience that wasn’t entirely made up of super-knowledgeable fans, and they hit it out of the park.

Technically, the show will evolve to mirror certain shows from different eras to show evolution through character and plot development. It’s a bit of a trope, or metaphor, that lends to make sense of what is going on inside of Wanda’s head. The mystery of the show is A) What has happened to get her to this point and B) Where does it all lead to

It reminds me a bit of Lost in this aspect. It’s obvious that Wanda has an idea of what’s going on in her world, but it’s the little things that don’t belong there like the helicopter and the beekeeper that set off her alarms.

If you watched the first episode including the part after the “episode” ends then idk how you don’t at least have an idea of what’s going on

I really liked the first two episodes. A fair amount of cheesy sitcom aspect to them, plus some quirk and suspense of when the other people will realize that they aren’t normal. But Vision is pretty funny through two episodes and there’s a lot of intrigue and comedy in some of the quirks, like the pointless job that Vision can’t understand despite being good at it (which is both a joke about real jobs and a point that Wanda’s universe is only surface level) and being unable to remember their anniversary. It’s engaging as a cheesy sitcom right now with enough suspense that slowly building of how the rest of the town will react to their powers and continued reminders that this universe isn’t what it appears

Edit: I wanted this to be very different going in, fyi

It sure is. Just puzzling they waste two episodes in a very limited and short run-time series to just tell us “something is going on.”

First two episodes were huge misses but hopefully things pick up on episode 3.

Yep. That’s exactly how it feels.

The first episode especially was boring, the cheesy 50s jokes weren’t funny, and they just overplayed the sitcom element.

Also let’s discuss how the credits were about half as long as the show. When I saw there was 8 minutes left I figured there’d be more. Nope. Just credits.

Not every episode of a series has to be plot intensive. The first two episodes have been heavy on character building, relationship building, and setting the mood of the show. Bet you hated most of season 1 of Mando too

I mean, these weren’t my 2 favorite episodes of television by any stretch, but it’s pretty clear they are building up to a big bomb-drop moment, so I’m locked in. This was probably the Marvel Disney+ show I was least excited about, so I’m pretty pleased based on where it looks like this thing is going.

frick you.

You've never had an original thought about the arts, entertainment, or politics. Someone disagrees with your borrowed opinion and you immediately go to your meme files to see what the appropriate response is.

If you're going to clutch onto this imaginary board position of yours where you have to be the person to start "official" threads (even when you haven't seen the movie or program), please keep your mouth shut while the adults are talking.

you sho seem angry.

I don't understand giving up on marvel's first disney+ series 2 episodes in when they have proven to you over the last decade that every that every product they put out is at a minimum good.

In hindsight these episodes will likely have you looking back and seeing the clues being given. Agnes is probably a character in some other form.

The big nose guy is probably the same.

The hydra and stark product placements have to have some relevance. She is already manipulating the sitcom when things don't go ideal.

Don't fall prey to the instant gratification society...
